Abilities
Spite (0.5)
Spite is an active ability that increases a user's next attack damage based on its power meter, which gradually fills once the ability is triggered and then drains to 0 if no creature is attacked by the user during this time. It also has a customizable percentage (%) of the creature's damage (the % listed is the max of said creature's Spite power). Alongside raw damage, the user inflicts double ailments on their targets. The ability has a 20-second cooldown that starts upon activation.
Bleed Attack (2)
Bleed Attack is a passive ability, where the user inflicts a specific amount of bleed status on a creature with every bite, excluding with breath/ranged abilities or reflecting abilities. A negative value means that it heals an amount of such status upon biting.
Block Bleed (0.3)
Bleed Block/Block Bleed is a percentage based passive ability that grants the user resistance to getting bleed status from melee attacks at minimum. If an attacker deals 5 bleed per hit and the receiver has 60% Block Bleed, then the receiver gets only 2 of that 5 bleed. This ability is gained gradually as the creature ages. If a creature's Block Bleed is 100%, then they are immune to Bleed inflicted by melee direct attacks once fully grown. If a creature's Block Bleed is negative, it may indicate an extra vulnerability to the status effect.
Burn Attack (1)
Burn Attack is an ability that offensively deals burn when biting. Stacks with itself. A negative value means that it heals an amount of such status upon biting.
Poison Attack (2)
Poison Attack is a passive ability that makes the user deal Poison Status to another creature upon biting them. It stacks with itself. A negative value means that it heals an amount of such status upon biting.
Trivia
- Concept by undeary/vetris on the Creatures of Sonaria Discord server. The Cryptoth was primarily based on candles, the claws inspired by Avothious' talons, "but primarily this is what he was referenced from, he was an old concept about a year ago that wasn't thought of until recently when Halloween concepts were wanted" (quoted by concept creator).
- Cryptoth has purple blood. Due to that, when dying, it drops a purple carcass in Legacy. In real life, the change in color is caused by hemerythrin, a respiratory pigment of a purplish/violet color once oxygenated, replacing hemoglobin in several invertebrates.
- Cryptoth is one of the few creatures in Legacy that have both toxin and bleed, others being Diokrine, Nakamaska, Undoli, and Zwevealisk.
- The Cryptoth's name may be a reference to crypts, a stone chamber that will often hold bodies.
- The Cryptoth used Zethines health stats as a placeholder. This has now been fixed. Cryptoth formerly had ambush; this has since been removed as it was borrowed from when Cryptoth borrowed the stats of Zethines.
