Abilities
Dazzling Flash is an active ability that generates a quick white flash and causes nearby creatures to experience confusion, tunnel vision, and blurred vision. It has a 70 second cooldown.
Latch is an active ability that allows the user to latch onto higher-tiered creatures. Creatures that the user has latched into cannot escape for 5 seconds. After that, the latched creature can struggle by pressing any button and will release such creature from the latch. The user can unlatch at any moment by pressing the same button used to latch in the first place.
Bleed Attack is a passive ability, where the user inflicts a specific amount of bleed status on a creature with every bite, excluding with breath/ranged abilities or reflecting abilities. A negative value means that it heals an amount of such status upon biting.
Climber is a passive ability that allows the user to walk on walls and ceilings. To detach from a wall, press the Space on PC. On Mobile, press the dedicated Detach button, or, if the creature has Jump, press the jump button.
Defensive Poison/Melee Toxin is a passive ability that makes the user deal Poison Status to an attacker upon being attacked. Stacks with itself.
Keen Observer is a passive ability that allows the user to see the health, equipped Plushies, Traits, and status effects of nearby creatures with a green HP bar over them. Temporary status buffs are set on green, temporary status debuffs on red, traits now present their correct indicator and plushies are marked with their plushie icon.
Poison Attack is a passive ability that makes the user deal Poison Status to another creature upon biting them. It stacks with itself. A negative value means that it heals an amount of such status upon biting.
Raider is a passive ability that allows users to enter and exit burrows, but not create them.
Serrated Teeth is a passive ability that offensively inflicts Deep Wounds status when biting.
Soft Landing is a passive ability that allows the user to fall more slowly, depending on each creature's specific stat number. It works when walking off cliffs/falling, detaching, darting, or jumping. It is cancellable by pressing (Space on PC or or B on Xbox).

Appearance
The Dyaelatura is a creature with wing-like ornamental fins reminiscent of butterflies or paper kites. Its general body plan is that of a long, sloping theropod, but features two longer forelegs that make it quadrupedal. It has a theropod head with two fin-like protrusions sloping down from its jaw, as well as two antenna-like protuberances which extend over the body. Its shaggy neck is moderately long. On its back is a large, rounded hindwing, with the trailing edge elongated in the fashion of a Swallowtail butterfly. This also appears on its forelimbs, which also feature a paired forewing and a hindwing. Per foot, it has three digits for locomotion and a fourth, much more prominent claw turned upwards, presumably for attack. Though having a long tail, its true tail seems to terminate about halfway and the length is continued by an ornate extrusion, a plated pattern that ends in another swallowtail-like hindwing. **Males**: Males have a slightly sharper chin. Males have a slightly sharper chin. **Females**: Females have no additional features. Females have no additional features.
Behavior
- Dyaelatura are roughly as smart as ravens.
- Dyaelatura are drawn to bright colors and often will pick off colorful feathers, scales, frills, etc, off of larger creatures for fun. Paired Dyaelatura will often gift these to each other.
- Their attraction to color makes them particularly more susceptible to being lured by flashier predators.
Trivia
- Concept by Stood_04 in the Creatures of Sonaria Discord. Inspired by raptors, utahraptors, and butterflies. The Dyaelatura's name is derived from the scientific name of the purple emperor butterfly (Apatura iris).
