Appearance

The Gyroudus is a huge theropod, partially resembling the carcharodontosaurid theropods Concavenator and Giganotosaurus, with large spikes protruding from the spine and tail, imitating a form of rock or bark. It also has a build similar to that of advanced prehistoric theropods like the Giganotosaurus, with small arms and heavy legs. Gyroudus is decorated in tan, white, green, grey, and brown, with glowing orange spots. It has large jaws equipped with exposed teeth from the upper jaw and a pair of beady, orange eyes. The base of its head ends in a hood of spikes and a pattern of plates going down the neck. Its tail starts with a large sail, arching up then stooping down to the tail where the end expands into a paddle.

**Males**: Males present a paired set of scaled protrusions stemming from their elbows (2 pairs of scales) and ankles (3 pairs).

Abilities

Earthquake
Earthquake is an ability that emits a cartoonish smoke-blast that inflicts the Injury aliment on all nearby creatures. The default Injury gain is 50 stacks; however, the amount of Injury gained can be reduced based off of the percentage of Injury block the creature has.
Spite (0.20)
Spite is an active ability that increases a user's next attack damage based on its power meter, which gradually fills once the ability is triggered and then drains to 0 if no creature is attacked by the user during this time. It also has a customizable percentage (%) of the creature's damage (the % listed is the max of said creature's Spite power). Alongside raw damage, the user inflicts double ailments on their targets. The ability has a 20-second cooldown that starts upon activation.
Bleed Attack (8)
Bleed Attack is a passive ability, where the user inflicts a specific amount of bleed status on a creature with every bite, excluding with breath/ranged abilities or reflecting abilities. A negative value means that it heals an amount of such status upon biting.
Block Bleed (0.65)
Bleed Block/Block Bleed is a percentage based passive ability that grants the user resistance to getting bleed status from melee attacks at minimum. If an attacker deals 5 bleed per hit and the receiver has 60% Block Bleed, then the receiver gets only 2 of that 5 bleed. This ability is gained gradually as the creature ages. If a creature's Block Bleed is 100%, then they are immune to Bleed inflicted by melee direct attacks once fully grown. If a creature's Block Bleed is negative, it may indicate an extra vulnerability to the status effect.
Block Injury (0.50)
Injury Block/Block Injury is a passive ability that grants the user resistance to getting Injury status from melee attacks at the very least. It is percentage based, e.g. if an attacker deals 5 Injury per hit and the receiver has 60% Injury Block, then the receiver gets only 2 of that 5 Injury.
Block Poison (0.30)
Block Poison/Poison Block is a passive ability that grants resistance to poison status once they reach max age (100). Like many other block defenses, it works by blocking a percentage of the ailment received. If a creature's Poison Block is 100%, then they are immune to those stats (and will be healed instantly if they are somehow applied) once they reach age 100.
Quick Recovery
Quick Recovery is a passive ability that boosts HP regeneration when the user's health is below 40%. The lower the health, the higher the HP regeneration boost.
Serrated Teeth
Serrated Teeth is a passive ability that offensively inflicts Deep Wounds status when biting.
Strength In Numbers
Strength In Numbers is a passive ability that gives the user a 7% stamina regeneration boost and a 1.5% damage boost. It stacks according to how many creatures with the same ability and species are nearby. If there are no other users with this ability nearby, it will not provide the boost.
Wing Shredder (3)
Wing Shredder is a passive ability that allows the user to offensively deal the Shredded Wings status to a creature they bite..

Trivia

  • Concept by Stood_04. It's inspired by the Giganotosaurus, according to Stood_04. Its name is extremely similar to Gyrodus circularis, a prehistoric fish that lived in the late Triassic and middle Cretaceous. It is unknown whether this was intended or not.
  • Modeled and animated by Erythia. Gyroudus got reanimated as of October 2023; a teaser on the Creatures of Sonaria Discord displayed footage of the new Gyroudus walk animation. This reanimation only changed the walk animation. All other animations were left unchanged.
  • Redesign concept by MacRenee.
  • Redesign modeled by MidnightAJC8308 and rigged by ThunderBoo666.
  • Redesign animated by Mukudori and Minisode1_BlueHour
  • Gyroudus is a Limited Dinosaur creature that was released alongside Syroudon.
  • It is one of the first creatures to receive the Earthquake ability, along with the Trikylo.
  • When its redesign was released, it was added to the Mission System as a Mission Reward for one week, giving players a chance to obtain it since it was unavailable in the Limited Gacha at the time.
  • During development, the original Gyroudus model's default colors were initially greenish tones, as seen in its concept art, but were later switched to brownish colors. However, the redesign model used its greenish tones as its default colors.
