Appearance

The Mijusuima is a theropod-like creature with a vague, spinosaurid appearance with large plates covering the top of its body. It sports a variety of vibrant red, orange, yellow, green, and blue colors covering its body, with its underbelly, neck, and the base of its tail being white. It possesses coral-like protrusions on the end of its tail, on its back legs, and on its chin. The Mijusuima appears to have coral horns, and two (2) eyes on both sides of its face (four (4) eyes in total). Its jaw is slender and resembles the aforementioned dinosaur's face above, with thin whiskers hanging from its lower jaw and the top of its head.

**Males**: Males have 6 whiskers underneath the chin.

Abilities

Invisibility
Invisibility is an active ability that makes the user invisible to other players when toggled. Invisibility allows the user to walk and swim cloaked as long as they don't bite, use any active ability, sprint, ambush, or jump/fly/glide. While active it does not hide the creature from being spotted by scent. Additionally, invisibility has a 30 second cooldown after being activated; however, deactivating the ability does not modify the cooldown.
Agile Swimmer
Agile Swimmer is a passive ability that causes the player to receive the following buffs when submerged underwater for more than a second: 100% more stamina regeneration 50% more total stamina 75% more walk speed 75% more sprint speed A % increase in oxygen (oxygen increase percentage is based off the amount of oxygen the creature originally has) Additionally, a glider semi-aquatic (and an aqua-glider) can abuse the extra stamina to increase the number of glide flaps it can perform from the water boosted. Until they touch the ground or stop gliding, the boosted stamina amount will remain.
Bleed Attack (4)
Bleed Attack is a passive ability, where the user inflicts a specific amount of bleed status on a creature with every bite, excluding with breath/ranged abilities or reflecting abilities. A negative value means that it heals an amount of such status upon biting.
Block Bleed (0.35)
Bleed Block/Block Bleed is a percentage based passive ability that grants the user resistance to getting bleed status from melee attacks at minimum. If an attacker deals 5 bleed per hit and the receiver has 60% Block Bleed, then the receiver gets only 2 of that 5 bleed. This ability is gained gradually as the creature ages. If a creature's Block Bleed is 100%, then they are immune to Bleed inflicted by melee direct attacks once fully grown. If a creature's Block Bleed is negative, it may indicate an extra vulnerability to the status effect.
Serrated Teeth
Serrated Teeth is a passive ability that offensively inflicts Deep Wounds status when biting.

Behavior

  • Also known as the "paradise dinosaur".
  • Mijusuima are ambush predators, preferring to ambush in areas with vibrant coral or flowers, like a flower cove.
  • When not ambushing other creatures, Mijusuima can use their mouths, which have sensitive whiskers that can calculate and pin-point the position of fast fish, to hunt. This enables them to hunt even in muddy stream water.
  • The coral-like parts of the Mijusuima's body need to be re-hydrated every once in a while, so they can normally be seen in areas with a lot of water/moisture. The hydrated coral bits allow the Mijusuima to cool off in warmer temperatures.
  • Mijusuima prefer the microclimates that caves provide, especially if there is water.
  • Mijusuima lay their eggs in beds of flowers and their armor and coral protrusions hatch soft.
  • Male Mijusuima are considered more attractive if their coral protrusions are larger and more vibrant.

Trivia

  • Concept by Undeary on the Creatures of Sonaria Discord. It was inspired primarily by "Spinosaurs and different coral species," along with being inspired by the new darting mechanics and map redesign of the Official Recode. It was also inspired by tropical animals, and its colors were picked to reflect the colorful nature of the game's recode. Some of the coral types that inspired the Mijusuima's design include fan, tabular, encrusting, branching, and corymbose coral. The Miju part in Mijusuima's name may derive from the Japanese word Mizu, meaning water, while suima might be a pun on swimmer.
  • Mijusuima was the winning poll result and one of the three (3) creatures featured in a community poll on the Creatures of Sonaria Discord to become a badge creature for the Official Recode. The other candidates that did not win were the Kyraucus and the Zarkavix, of which were announced to be of unknown status as to whether they may appear in the game in the future.
  • The Mijusuima species is no longer obtainable by any normal means. To own one, it must be traded. This creature was only obtainable by buying or being given a Recode Early Access Token and earning the Recode Early Access badge.
  • This is the first badge reward creature to ever appear in a long time, with the Aolenus and Keruku predating Mijusuima's existence by roughly 2-3 years. It is also the first semi-aquatic badge reward creature. While being the very first semi-aquatic badge reward creature, it is also the only badge reward creature that can't fly.
