Abilities

Burrower (3)
Burrower is an active ability that allows the user to place up to 4 (or a specific creature limit) burrows anywhere on the map and use burrows created by other players. If a user places more entrances than the maximum allowed, the oldest burrow and exit will be replaced. A user cannot place a burrow entrance inside its own burrow or inside someone else's burrow. There is a 3 second cooldown between entering and exiting burrows, excluding entering a burrow after its initial placement.
Hunters Curse
Hunters Curse is an active ability that costs half of total health to use but grants 10 stacks (30 seconds) of the Hunters Curse status, which increases damage by 100%. It has a 120 second cooldown.
Unbridled Rage
Unbridled Rage is an active ability that consumes half of a user's stamina upon being activated and grants 10 stacks (30 seconds) of the Unbridled Rage Status. It has a 120 second cooldown.
Agile Swimmer
Agile Swimmer is a passive ability that causes the player to receive the following buffs when submerged underwater for more than a second: 100% more stamina regeneration 50% more total stamina 75% more walk speed 75% more sprint speed A % increase in oxygen (oxygen increase percentage is based off the amount of oxygen the creature originally has) Additionally, a glider semi-aquatic (and an aqua-glider) can abuse the extra stamina to increase the number of glide flaps it can perform from the water boosted. Until they touch the ground or stop gliding, the boosted stamina amount will remain.
Berserk
Berserk is a passive ability that activates at below 20% health. It increases stamina regeneration by 100% and decreases bite cooldown by 50%.
Bleed Attack (2)
Bleed Attack is a passive ability, where the user inflicts a specific amount of bleed status on a creature with every bite, excluding with breath/ranged abilities or reflecting abilities. A negative value means that it heals an amount of such status upon biting.
Block Bleed (1.00)
Bleed Block/Block Bleed is a percentage based passive ability that grants the user resistance to getting bleed status from melee attacks at minimum. If an attacker deals 5 bleed per hit and the receiver has 60% Block Bleed, then the receiver gets only 2 of that 5 bleed. This ability is gained gradually as the creature ages. If a creature's Block Bleed is 100%, then they are immune to Bleed inflicted by melee direct attacks once fully grown. If a creature's Block Bleed is negative, it may indicate an extra vulnerability to the status effect.
First Strike (0.2)
First Strike is a passive ability that grants the user increased damage while they are above 75% health. The damage increase is depends on the creature and is reflected in its stat menu.
Iron Stomach
Iron Stomach is a passive ability that allows the user to eat rotten meat without getting negative ailments from it--preventing them from getting the Sickly Status.
Unbreakable
Unbreakable is a passive ability that allows the user to be immune to Bleed and Injury.

Behavior

  • The Adharcaiin lures its prey with its lantern before dragging it into the depths of the ocean. Then, it allows its victim to bleed out and asphyxiate. Once killed, the Adharcaiin feeds on the heart of the creature.
  • The Adharcaiin is a mindless, droning creature whose intentions are mysterious and malicious.
  • When it emerges from the murky depths of lakes and swamps, it stalks and murders creatures for fun. It generally lacks any hunger and feeds very rarely; most hunts are done simply out of boredom. It is a merciless hunter.
  • Its long horn and cleft hooves are used to impale its targets. It features a large set of fangs on both the upper and lower jaw, while the rest of its teeth are large, crudely sharpened molars that look as if they were made to eat leaves.

Lore (non-canon)

  • It is feared by most residents of Sonaria and is generally a very elusive and rare creature.
  • It often hides in the deep oceanic kelp forests of Sonaria, where it awaits unsuspecting prey to come across its path. These kelp forests are extremely dense to the point that most light gets filtered out, leaving the depths and bases of the forest to be extremely dark.
  • It does not seem to be of natural origin, featuring stitches and buttons along its body and wood-like ball joints that enable its movement. Its lantern glows eternally, producing a chilling screaming sound when the Adharcaiin is enraged.
  • It is said that souls are held in the lantern-like container that hangs from its horn.

Trivia

  • Concept by malarkeii. When malarkeii was making the concept, it was going to be cuter but was later changed to appear more sinister. Adharcaiin's name is of Scottish-Gaelic origin. The first part, “Adharc”, means “horn”, while the third syllable, “-caiin”, is derived from the word “snàthainn”, which means “thread” (although it isn't completely the same as the real word). Adharcaiin is based on the kelpie, which originated in Scottish folklore. Originally, the kelpie is a shapeshifter creature that lures unsuspecting prey into the water and devours them, except for their liver. Adharcaiin bears similarity in the fact it is also a water horse that drowns its victims. Adharcaiin is additionally based on a ball-jointed doll; it is not intended to be metallic, and its joints are made of wooden material. All aspects of Adharcaiin are organic, except for the metal chains and lanterns that hang from it.
  • Adharcaiin was previously obtainable through the Robux Gacha prior to its removal. It followed the Robux Gacha trend in the sense of being a plushie-doll creature like the other Gacha creatures at the time: Zoocuu, Fleuralis, and Rukig.
  • The flame in the lantern was formerly unable to be colored. This was patched on 6/10/22.
  • The Adharcaiin is one of the only creatures that kills for fun.
  • The Adharcaiin formerly lacked the Unbreakable ability, and whether this was a mistake or not is unknown.
