Appearance

The Brequewk is a hummingbird-like creature with ridges of leaf-like feathers running down its back and chest. It has a long, thin tail and thin triangular wings reminiscent of a hummingbird. On the dorsal (upper) part of each wing are two additional leaf-like feathers which jut from the wing. Brequewk has a unique upper beak, a good portion of which is striped and curves upwards.

Abilities

Burrower (1)
Burrower is an active ability that allows the user to place up to 4 (or a specific creature limit) burrows anywhere on the map and use burrows created by other players. If a user places more entrances than the maximum allowed, the oldest burrow and exit will be replaced. A user cannot place a burrow entrance inside its own burrow or inside someone else's burrow. There is a 3 second cooldown between entering and exiting burrows, excluding entering a burrow after its initial placement.
Healing Hunter (60)
Healing Hunter is a toggleable active ability that allows the user to deal melee hits that replenish the target's HP when hitting. This ability also allows the healer to toggle between melee heal mode and regular attack mode, where the healer's bites deal melee damage instead. It also prevents bleed and poison-booster plushies from giving extra offensive bleed or poison when hitting under healing mode. If a creature with this ability is on healing mode, they are surrounded by a pink hollow sphere with pink cross particles.
Defensive Poison (2.5)
Defensive Poison/Melee Toxin is a passive ability that makes the user deal Poison Status to an attacker upon being attacked. Stacks with itself.
Keen Observer
Keen Observer is a passive ability that allows the user to see the health, equipped Plushies, Traits, and status effects of nearby creatures with a green HP bar over them. Temporary status buffs are set on green, temporary status debuffs on red, traits now present their correct indicator and plushies are marked with their plushie icon.
Pack Healer
Pack Healer is a pack-oriented passive ability. This passive ability allows the user to boost the HP regen of their fellow packmates.
Sonic Wings
Sonic Wings is a passive ability that allows the user to idle while flying without consuming or regaining stamina.

Behavior

  • The Brequewk are similar to bug swarms and would absolutely demolish flora wherever they choose to nest. The Brequewk, despite being similar to bug swarms, actually form smaller units up to around fifty individuals.
  • Brequewk flies in a formation that is meant to intimidate predators (its wingtips are reflective and it forms an image similar to a wave-like pattern throughout the flock) paired with the fact that Brequewk can also be loud (hummingbird wingbeats). This makes it so that if the colors don't scare the predator, then maybe the sound will deter a predator if all else fails.
  • Brequewk will scatter into the nearest foliage if possible due to their leaf-like camouflage being very effective.

  • Designed by @TyrantDinosaur889 on the Creatures of Sonaria Discord server. The Brequewk was "based off the idea of using plant camouflage to survive hence why [it's] green and very leafy, also based off hummingbirds" (Quoted by concept creator TyrantDinosaur889).

  • The Brequewk has lime green blood in the Legacy version of the game. Due to this, when killed in Legacy, the Brequewk drops a lime green carcass. This is an actual color in some Earth creatures: both from those that use chlorocruorin, a green oxygen carrier that replaces hemoglobin in some invertebrates' blood and in some vertebrates (like some green-blooded lizards) that have adapted to carry lethal amounts of biliverdin in their blood, which is a toxic byproduct of heme catabolism whose only good side is that it has antimutagenic properties; albeit not on this shade of color- Its possibly lime just because of the camouflage inspiration of this creature, meaning the blood could be sap or just colored to be less noticeable in their habitat, which is more fitting for the Brequewk.
  • The Brequewk was originally a starter creature until December 24, 2022, when it got replaced by the Momola.
