Appearance

The Xenolif is a gangly, hexapedal creature. Only four of its limbs, all of which feature four digits, are used in locomotion, whereas its forelimbs are used exclusively for utility and are held above the ground. Two-pronged horns sprout from the back of its head, and a third larger one protrudes from its nose. The Xenolif also possesses four free-moving antennae/whisker-like structures, with one pair extending from its mandible and the other from its hips. Its eyes, which glow, feature two pairs of long, horizontal pupils which gives the Xenolif a four-eyed appearance despite having a single pair. A thin crest runs down its neck and back, and its tail ends in a sharp point reminiscent of a barbed hook. The whole creature's body features a prominent striped pattern.

By default, Xenolif is purple, grey, black, and magenta.

**Males**: Males have an additional three spiked-tuft protruding from their second forelimb set's axilla.

Abilities

Radiation (0.75)
Radiation is a toggleable (ON/OFF) area-of-effect (AOE) ability that gives Corrosion status to nearby creatures. The severity of corrosion received is determined by proximity to the user. It can go from the base damage indicated on the creature labels (usually 0.25) per tick from afar to twice that value (0.5) per tick around mid-range, and finally going to thrice the original value (0.75) per tick when close. A creature emitting radiation can be spotted by a green spherical glow around their body.
Block Bleed (0.25)
Bleed Block/Block Bleed is a percentage based passive ability that grants the user resistance to getting bleed status from melee attacks at minimum. If an attacker deals 5 bleed per hit and the receiver has 60% Block Bleed, then the receiver gets only 2 of that 5 bleed. This ability is gained gradually as the creature ages. If a creature's Block Bleed is 100%, then they are immune to Bleed inflicted by melee direct attacks once fully grown. If a creature's Block Bleed is negative, it may indicate an extra vulnerability to the status effect.
Block Burn (-0.25)
Burn Block/Block Burn is a passive ability that grants the user resistance to getting burn status from melee attacks. It is percentage based. For example, if an attacker deals 5 burn per hit and the receiver has 60% block burn, then the receiver gets only 2 of that 5 burn. If a creature's block burn is 100%, then they are immune to Burn inflicted by melee direct attacks once fully grown. This ability is gained gradually as the creature ages. A negative value may indicate that the creature is vulnerable to burn effects.
Block Poison (0.25)
Block Poison/Poison Block is a passive ability that grants resistance to poison status once they reach max age (100). Like many other block defenses, it works by blocking a percentage of the ailment received. If a creature's Poison Block is 100%, then they are immune to those stats (and will be healed instantly if they are somehow applied) once they reach age 100.
Climber
Climber is a passive ability that allows the user to walk on walls and ceilings. To detach from a wall, press the Space on PC. On Mobile, press the dedicated Detach button, or, if the creature has Jump, press the jump button.
Corrosion Attack (1)
Corrosion Attack/Corrosion Bite is an ability that offensively deals Corrosion when biting. It stacks with itself. A negative value means that it heals an amount of such status upon biting.
Injury Attack (2)
Injury Attack is an ability that offensively deals injury status when biting. A negative value means that it heals an amount of such status upon biting.
Iron Stomach
Iron Stomach is a passive ability that allows the user to eat rotten meat without getting negative ailments from it--preventing them from getting the Sickly Status.
Keen Observer
Keen Observer is a passive ability that allows the user to see the health, equipped Plushies, Traits, and status effects of nearby creatures with a green HP bar over them. Temporary status buffs are set on green, temporary status debuffs on red, traits now present their correct indicator and plushies are marked with their plushie icon.
Poison Attack (1)
Poison Attack is a passive ability that makes the user deal Poison Status to another creature upon biting them. It stacks with itself. A negative value means that it heals an amount of such status upon biting.
Raider
Raider is a passive ability that allows users to enter and exit burrows, but not create them.

Lore (non-canon)

  • They are considered an invasive species as they spread fast, don't have many predators normally in Sonaria and tend to ravage (destroy) other creature habitats they go through.
  • The front arms are evolved for it to eat and drink due to its long legs.

Trivia

  • Original concept by dew_theangeldragon, redesign by torviin. Inspired by a Xenomorph, a monster from the Alien Franchise, in looks and partly in name. However, Wolfragon has explicitly stated that Xenolif itself is not a Xenomorph. Originally it was meant to be called "Xenoliif", but in-game it ended up being called the Xenolif.
  • Animations by Mukudori.
  • The Xenolif is the first released creature whose name starts with "X". This means each letter in the English alphabet is covered by at least one released creature's initial.
  • The Xenolif is the 200th creature to be released in Creatures of Sonaria.
  • When Xenolif was first released, it temporarily shared its in-game description with Ferrah. It is unknown if this was intentional.
  • Legacy Xenolif has violet blood. Due to this, when dying, the Xenolif drops a violet carcass. In real life, the change in color is caused by hemerythrin, a respiratory pigment of a purplish/violet color once oxygenated, replacing hemoglobin in several invertebrates, albeit not on the same shade of color Due to this and some palette and model similarities, people sometimes referred to it as "Radioactive Ferrah", "Mutated Ferrah", or "Xeno Ferrah" when not using "Xeno" directly until Ferrah's remodel.
