Appearance

The Etheralotus is a large creature that resembles a wyvern. It has jagged wingtips and a spiky body. On its head and chin, it has a comb that looks like the ones on a chicken, particularly the Penedesenca breed. Its back, rump, and tail have connected tall spikes. The tail is thicker in the middle. There are patterns that look like eyes on the upper side of its wings and on the side of its tail. Some decorative elements hang from its lower jaw and rump. The bottom and tips of its wings have a web-like structure with two long claws.

Abilities

Egg Stealer
Egg Stealer is an active ability that allows creatures to steal eggs from the nests of other players. If a creature has this ability, eggs are also highlighted with an egg icon when scenting.
Grab
Grab is an active ability that allows the user to pick up a lower-tiered creature. Grabbed creatures cannot escape for 5 seconds. After that, the grabbed creature can struggle by pressing any button and will be released from the grab. The user can ungrab at any moment by pressing the same button used to grab. A creature darting from outside water will grab any creature it finds automatically.
Block Bleed (0.35)
Bleed Block/Block Bleed is a percentage based passive ability that grants the user resistance to getting bleed status from melee attacks at minimum. If an attacker deals 5 bleed per hit and the receiver has 60% Block Bleed, then the receiver gets only 2 of that 5 bleed. This ability is gained gradually as the creature ages. If a creature's Block Bleed is 100%, then they are immune to Bleed inflicted by melee direct attacks once fully grown. If a creature's Block Bleed is negative, it may indicate an extra vulnerability to the status effect.
Block Frostbite (0.5)
Frostbite Block/Block Frostbite is a passive ability that grants the user resistance to getting frostbite status from melee attacks at the very least, and every other source at most. It is percentage based, e.g. if an attacker deals 5 frostbite per hit and the receiver has 60% block frostbite, then the receiver gets only 2 of that 5 frostbite.
Block Poison (0.2)
Block Poison/Poison Block is a passive ability that grants resistance to poison status once they reach max age (100). Like many other block defenses, it works by blocking a percentage of the ailment received. If a creature's Poison Block is 100%, then they are immune to those stats (and will be healed instantly if they are somehow applied) once they reach age 100.
Broodwatcher
Broodwatcher is a passive ability that allows users to assist in the gestation of other players' eggs. It applies one stack of Gestation to nearby creatures, which increases other creatures' egg gestation speed by 2.5%. The total buff any nesting species can receive is 5%, so only two Broodwatchers can be effective at any one time. Additionally, when sitting near a nest, the Broodwatcher gains 5 Defensive, which starts to decrease if they move.
Defensive Frostbite (1.5)
Frostbite touch/Defensive Frostbite is an ability that defensively deals frostbite when bitten.
Frostbite Attack (1)
Frostbite Attack is an ability that offensively deals frostbite when biting. A negative value means that it heals an amount of such status upon biting.
Frosty
Frosty is a passive ability that causes the user to receive +25% stamina regeneration, +25% health regeneration, -25% thirst depletion, and -25% hunger depletion during Winter and Famine. Additionally, it prevents getting hypothermia from blizzards.
Keen Observer
Keen Observer is a passive ability that allows the user to see the health, equipped Plushies, Traits, and status effects of nearby creatures with a green HP bar over them. Temporary status buffs are set on green, temporary status debuffs on red, traits now present their correct indicator and plushies are marked with their plushie icon.

Trivia

  • Concept by Undeary in the Creatures of Sonaria Discord. Etheralotus' name is derived from the word "ethereal".[1]
  • The original Etheralotus was rigged live on YouTube by Wolfragon, featured alongside Gnolrok and Imeaorn.
  • Animated by Mukudori.
  • Redesign concept by MacRenee in the Creatures of Sonaria Discord.
  • Redesign modeled by JaxonBirb.
  • Redesign rigged by ThunderBoo666.
  • Redesign animated by Zyraphes.
  • The Etheralotus is an exclusive creature to Discord moderators and admins, meaning it is only provided to users with those roles. Applicable players receive at least 20 Etheralotus species each month.
  • It was stated in the official Creatures of Sonaria Discord that this creature, once released, would not appear in the creatures list of players who did not own the species, nor be purchasable in the Shoom Shop. This turned out to be false; Etheralotus does appear in the creatures list, and it can be purchased as a stored creature from the Shoom Shop. Later it was stated it could be traded the same way as Aereis, however, the Developers have stated there would be no more rank-exclusive creatures after Sigmatox. This turned out to be false as well, as Etheralotus came out in December of 2022, a while after Sigmatox's release in January of 2022, followed by Verza, Owa'Stryrus, and Somnia Elus all releasing in 2023.
