Appearance

The Goskogur is a quadrupedal beast with a robust, gorilla-like build and a dark forest-green, brown, and crimson color palette. Its massive, muscular frame is covered in shaggy fur, interspersed with wooden, bark-like skin. Their deer-like skull mask is crowned with large, branching antlers and adorned with red, vibrant patterns. Sporting a set of sharp teeth, their mask features several horns on its lower jaw. Behind their mask, they hide their true, flat gorilla-like face. Their forelimbs are long and powerful, ending in five clawed fingers. The shorter hind legs are equally strong, supporting its heavy frame, with two toes on each foot.

**Males**: Males possess longer and large chest fur, which extends from their chin to their lower abdomen.

Abilities

Adrenaline
Adrenaline is an active ability that gives 10 stacks (30 seconds) of adrenaline, which increases movement speed by 25%, damage by 20%, and disables stamina regeneration while active.
Grab
Grab is an active ability that allows the user to pick up a lower-tiered creature. Grabbed creatures cannot escape for 5 seconds. After that, the grabbed creature can struggle by pressing any button and will be released from the grab. The user can ungrab at any moment by pressing the same button used to grab. A creature darting from outside water will grab any creature it finds automatically.
Berserk
Berserk is a passive ability that activates at below 20% health. It increases stamina regeneration by 100% and decreases bite cooldown by 50%.
Block Bleed (0.40)
Bleed Block/Block Bleed is a percentage based passive ability that grants the user resistance to getting bleed status from melee attacks at minimum. If an attacker deals 5 bleed per hit and the receiver has 60% Block Bleed, then the receiver gets only 2 of that 5 bleed. This ability is gained gradually as the creature ages. If a creature's Block Bleed is 100%, then they are immune to Bleed inflicted by melee direct attacks once fully grown. If a creature's Block Bleed is negative, it may indicate an extra vulnerability to the status effect.
Block Poison (0.40)
Block Poison/Poison Block is a passive ability that grants resistance to poison status once they reach max age (100). Like many other block defenses, it works by blocking a percentage of the ailment received. If a creature's Poison Block is 100%, then they are immune to those stats (and will be healed instantly if they are somehow applied) once they reach age 100.
Charge (Throw)
Charge is a passive ability that gradually fills an orange "Charge" bar (unique to creatures with this ability) while running. Once completely full, clicking (Lmb on PC or on Mobile or RT on Xbox) will apply special effects on a creature the user is hitting. If the bar is not full, charge effects may be reduced or non-existent. Current Charge types:
Injury Attack (4.25)
Injury Attack is an ability that offensively deals injury status when biting. A negative value means that it heals an amount of such status upon biting.
Wing Shredder (1)
Wing Shredder is a passive ability that allows the user to offensively deal the Shredded Wings status to a creature they bite..

Behavior

  • Goskogur are primarily found in forested biomes, and live in small troops, usually consisting of 2-4 individuals. The troop is lead by the strongest male.
  • Despite their intimidating appearance, Goskogur are not aggressive as long as they are left alone.
  • Their diet consists of fruit, berries, leaves, grasses, and scavenged meat.
  • Goskogurs are highly intelligent and capable of using tools, and problem solving to find food.
  • They also understand the benefit of working with other creatures and will try to befriend certain small species such as Ani for their healing benefits, and Idrabark for their use as lookouts, and ability to communicate. Goskogurs will offer these creatures food, and protection from the troop to encourage them to stick around.
  • When threatened, a Goskogur will try to intimidate away its opponent before attacking, by pounding the ground with its fists and showing off its two sets of jaws.
  • When attacked by a predator, the Goskogur will enter an adrenaline-fueled rage and fight back furiously. It will not stop until the predator is dead or leaves line of sight.

Lore (non-canon)

  • The Goskogur's "skull" mask is not easily removed but sheds periodically like the rest of the wood on its body. The wooden covering regrows in around a week.
  • The "eyes" on the Goskogur's antlers are fake and used for intimidation.
  • Goskogur are genetic relatives and antecessors to the Idrabark, possessing many similar qualities such as 5 fingered, clawed hands, 3 digits on the foot, highly developed forelimbs, a distinctive wood covering, branch like horns, a beak-like nose, plant growth on the body, high intelligence, and an omnivorous diet. They also possess the same season and biome-based coloration as this species.
