Appearance
The Koini resembles a mix between a koi fish and a maniraptoran, sporting a bilateral symmetry with the head and a toothless mouth at the front of the creature, a tail with a vertical caudal fin, a triple dorsal fin, two fins decorating the top and bottom sides of the tail, and koi-like fin-like frontal arms, and back legs skin to those seen in some theropods. Koinis head is decorated by multiple lobe-fin-like appendages.
Koini has no gender dimorphism.
Abilities
Burrower (4)
Burrower is an active ability that allows the user to place up to 4 (or a specific creature limit) burrows anywhere on the map and use burrows created by other players. If a user places more entrances than the maximum allowed, the oldest burrow and exit will be replaced. A user cannot place a burrow entrance inside its own burrow or inside someone else's burrow. There is a 3 second cooldown between entering and exiting burrows, excluding entering a burrow after its initial placement.
Latch (2)
Latch is an active ability that allows the user to latch onto higher-tiered creatures. Creatures that the user has latched into cannot escape for 5 seconds. After that, the latched creature can struggle by pressing any button and will release such creature from the latch. The user can unlatch at any moment by pressing the same button used to latch in the first place.
Agile Swimmer
Agile Swimmer is a passive ability that causes the player to receive the following buffs when submerged underwater for more than a second: 100% more stamina regeneration 50% more total stamina 75% more walk speed 75% more sprint speed A % increase in oxygen (oxygen increase percentage is based off the amount of oxygen the creature originally has) Additionally, a glider semi-aquatic (and an aqua-glider) can abuse the extra stamina to increase the number of glide flaps it can perform from the water boosted. Until they touch the ground or stop gliding, the boosted stamina amount will remain.
Block Bleed (0.3)
Bleed Block/Block Bleed is a percentage based passive ability that grants the user resistance to getting bleed status from melee attacks at minimum. If an attacker deals 5 bleed per hit and the receiver has 60% Block Bleed, then the receiver gets only 2 of that 5 bleed. This ability is gained gradually as the creature ages. If a creature's Block Bleed is 100%, then they are immune to Bleed inflicted by melee direct attacks once fully grown. If a creature's Block Bleed is negative, it may indicate an extra vulnerability to the status effect.
Soft Landing (0.65)
Soft Landing is a passive ability that allows the user to fall more slowly, depending on each creature's specific stat number. It works when walking off cliffs/falling, detaching, darting, or jumping. It is cancellable by pressing (Space on PC or or B on Xbox).
Strength In Numbers
Strength In Numbers is a passive ability that gives the user a 7% stamina regeneration boost and a 1.5% damage boost. It stacks according to how many creatures with the same ability and species are nearby. If there are no other users with this ability nearby, it will not provide the boost.
Behavior
- Koini are clumsily-moving creatures with a cowardly disposition, which avoid fights and typically run away instead.
- Their favorite thing to do is steal or collect shiny or bright items.
- Koini prefer to live in huge packs, usually with 10-15 members. While Koini are very social and spend a lot of their time goofing around, this behavior ceases in the presence of anything big and scary.
- Koini enjoy showing off their dens to other members of their species and tend to get jealous if someone has a better den then theirs.
- The calls of Koini are reminiscent of a cat, and they are even capable of purring.
- Koini can eat literally anything due to their strong stomach acid.
- Other creatures love to steal Koini in an attempt to make them their pets.
Trivia
- Concept by 0n1xu in the Creatures of Sonaria Discord. Inspired by koi fish, cats, coffee, and raptors.
- Rigged by Mezzioli.
