Abilities

Bleed Attack (4)
Bleed Attack is a passive ability, where the user inflicts a specific amount of bleed status on a creature with every bite, excluding with breath/ranged abilities or reflecting abilities. A negative value means that it heals an amount of such status upon biting.
Block Bleed (0.25)
Bleed Block/Block Bleed is a percentage based passive ability that grants the user resistance to getting bleed status from melee attacks at minimum. If an attacker deals 5 bleed per hit and the receiver has 60% Block Bleed, then the receiver gets only 2 of that 5 bleed. This ability is gained gradually as the creature ages. If a creature's Block Bleed is 100%, then they are immune to Bleed inflicted by melee direct attacks once fully grown. If a creature's Block Bleed is negative, it may indicate an extra vulnerability to the status effect.
Diver (8)
Diver is a passive ability that grants the user the ability to temporarily keep flying underwater for a short period of time while retaining their diving speed. The exact period of time varies per creature.
Iron Stomach
Iron Stomach is a passive ability that allows the user to eat rotten meat without getting negative ailments from it--preventing them from getting the Sickly Status.
Serrated Teeth
Serrated Teeth is a passive ability that offensively inflicts Deep Wounds status when biting.

Behavior

  • Nytoltalus are like the ravens of Sonaria and would bully seaside creatures and/or try to steal their food.
  • The Nytoltalus also have a particular liking for shiny things, which results in them hoarding fish because of their scales, but after a while of rotten fish bones building up they relocate. It would be very easy to tell where a Nytoltalus has previously nested.
  • The Nytoltalus nest on seaside cliffs because they hunt via diving with their wings back like modern seabirds (though technically they aren't that streamlined).
  • Nytoltalus females flock more often than males, who spend most of their time constructing fish hoards and fending off rivals who might try to sabotage them.

Trivia

  • Designed by TyrantDinosaur889 in the Creatures of Sonaria Discord. The Nytoltalus was "based off seabirds mainly how they fish as well as some pterosaurs and mainly the pelican with its throat, at the time I was obsessed with the concept of seabirds lol." (Quoted by concept creator TyrantDinosaur889) Tyrant (the concept designer) claims that the old Nytoltalus was actually a redesign because they disliked the first version. The Nytoltalus redesign is based off of the original Nytoltalus.
  • Modeled by Erythia.
  • Nytoltalus' redesign model released on October 1st, 2021. Nytoltalus was the second finished and released remodel/redesign.
  • It was the first All-Terrain creature.
  • It was one of the few playable creatures during Beta.
  • Some players called it "devil bird" because of a combination of the high bleed stat, the teeth, the ability to stay in all terrains, and because Nytoltalus (males' on the older version, and later the newer version as well) crest seemed to have "666" written on it. The remodel originally lacked gender dimorphism.
