Abilities

Burrower (3)

Burrower is an active ability that allows the user to place up to 4 (or a specific creature limit) burrows anywhere on the map and use burrows created by other players. If a user places more entrances than the maximum allowed, the oldest burrow and exit will be replaced. A user cannot place a burrow entrance inside its own burrow or inside someone else's burrow. There is a 3 second cooldown between entering and exiting burrows, excluding entering a burrow after its initial placement.

Block Bleed (0.1)

Bleed Block/Block Bleed is a percentage based passive ability that grants the user resistance to getting bleed status from melee attacks at minimum. If an attacker deals 5 bleed per hit and the receiver has 60% Block Bleed, then the receiver gets only 2 of that 5 bleed. This ability is gained gradually as the creature ages. If a creature's Block Bleed is 100%, then they are immune to Bleed inflicted by melee direct attacks once fully grown. If a creature's Block Bleed is negative, it may indicate an extra vulnerability to the status effect.

Block Burn (0.4)

Burn Block/Block Burn is a passive ability that grants the user resistance to getting burn status from melee attacks. It is percentage based. For example, if an attacker deals 5 burn per hit and the receiver has 60% block burn, then the receiver gets only 2 of that 5 burn. If a creature's block burn is 100%, then they are immune to Burn inflicted by melee direct attacks once fully grown. This ability is gained gradually as the creature ages. A negative value may indicate that the creature is vulnerable to burn effects.

Defensive Burn (4)

Burn touch/Defensive burn is an ability that deals burn to the opposing creature when being bitten. Stacks with itself.

Sticky Fur

Sticky Fur is a passive ability that inflicts the Sticky Teeth Status to the attacker when bitten.

Volcanic

Volcanic is a passive ability that grants users the ability to walk in lava without getting hurt or suffering status debuffs. During Famine and Drought, it additionally grants a 50% health regeneration boost and 25% thirst and hunger rate reduction. Volcanic does not protect a creature from Shadow Isle's corrupted lava.

Appearance

The Phyremia is a mammalian, quadrupedal ferret-like creature with tall, fox-like ears and a long tail. Its legs are short, giving it a low, mustelid-like gait, and each paw features three digits. Its wings — of which there are two — drape over its back in a cape-like fashion when grounded. Plate-like structures line its neck, tail, and front ankles, and sparse scales cover its shoulders and knees. Otherwise, most of Phyremia's body seems to be covered in fur, most prominently on its head, chest, and the tip of its tail. Whisker-like tendrils extrude from its face, two of which hold up a glowing orb under its jaw. This orb has a visible outer and inner layer. Small flames hover over both of its ears, its wingtips, and the end of its tail. **Males**: Males have an extra pair of whisker-like tendrils on their faces. Behavior

  • Phyremias are very social creatures (among their packs) and will take close care of their offspring until they're big enough to defend themselves.
  • Phyremia are smart enough to plan simple routes to get food.
  • If a Phyremia submerges themself long enough underwater (without drowning), the temperature of the water significantly rises.
  • Phyremia WILL eat and hunt small creatures alive, it’s just that they prefer to scavenge.
  • Phyremia roast the meat/berries they eat.
  • Phyremia are usually warm to touch, but if provoked raise their body heat high enough to burn any unprotected skin on a creature.

Trivia

  • Concept by Kyzenith. Phyremia is based off candle fires and ferrets. "Its colors were partially inspired off hoop cheese…." - Kyzenith Even though it's a ferret, its ears are based off a fennec fox, relating to how they also use their large ears to dispel body heat.
  • At the release, it was common to see large gatherings of Phyremia in the Volcano Cave.
  • Phyremia is the first Sonarian creature which can more or less safely traverse through lava in Legacy (idle animation, sitting, laying down, aggro, cower, hiding scent, and walking on a straight line over lava don't hurt the Phyremia), as seen here.
  • It reuses Eulopii's friendly call.
