Appearance

The Cavengauu is a bulky quadruped that appears to resemble a partially peeled banana with some Hydra and Cerberus inspirations, with its heads and necks resembling the flesh and the rest of its body the skin of a banana. The Cavengauu is one of the few creatures to sport many heads. The middle head appears to be the largest of the three heads present. The Cavengauu sports rather muscular forelegs, ending with five curved, blunt-clawed toes. However, its hind legs are significantly less bulky and have three-clawed toes in a shape that appears similar to a zygodactyl bird (with only 3 toes). It has lines of small, blunt spikes on the side of its elbows and on the side of its thighs. It is huge in size and sports excellent patterning across its body. Its tail is rather thick, possessing blunt-tip spikes all around the end. Cavengauu's color scheme is a mix of pale and dark yellows, browns, and some hints of black.

Cavengauu has no gender dimorphism.

Abilities

Block Bleed (0.75)
Bleed Block/Block Bleed is a percentage based passive ability that grants the user resistance to getting bleed status from melee attacks at minimum. If an attacker deals 5 bleed per hit and the receiver has 60% Block Bleed, then the receiver gets only 2 of that 5 bleed. This ability is gained gradually as the creature ages. If a creature's Block Bleed is 100%, then they are immune to Bleed inflicted by melee direct attacks once fully grown. If a creature's Block Bleed is negative, it may indicate an extra vulnerability to the status effect.
Block Poison (0.35)
Block Poison/Poison Block is a passive ability that grants resistance to poison status once they reach max age (100). Like many other block defenses, it works by blocking a percentage of the ailment received. If a creature's Poison Block is 100%, then they are immune to those stats (and will be healed instantly if they are somehow applied) once they reach age 100.
Defensive Corrosion (1.5)
Defensive Corrosion/Corrosive Body is an ability that defensively deals Corrosion Status when bitten. Stacks with itself.
Defensive Poison (1.5)
Defensive Poison/Melee Toxin is a passive ability that makes the user deal Poison Status to an attacker upon being attacked. Stacks with itself.
Iron Stomach
Iron Stomach is a passive ability that allows the user to eat rotten meat without getting negative ailments from it--preventing them from getting the Sickly Status.
Sticky Fur
Sticky Fur is a passive ability that inflicts the Sticky Teeth Status to the attacker when bitten.

Behavior

  • Cavengauu reside in the warmer, lusher areas of Sonaria, often in large sociable packs (typically with 4-8 individuals) called bunches. The middle head is the larger, dominant head and often stops its two other heads from quarreling. In a bunch, Cavengauu, with the most heads (up to five), tend to be the most dominant. Cavengauu rot with age. Elders of the species are often kicked out/left behind by their bunch as this process begins.
  • Rather than lay eggs, Cavengauu plant seeds and protect the sprouting trees. Cavengauu use their thick tails to topple trees and destroy rocks to make room for their large nesting areas. Cavengauu nesting areas are often decorated, usually with harvested foliage and pretty rocks. It is entirely possible for Cavengauu to reproduce asexually. Babies grow in bunches connected at the tail but break off once they're able to walk by themselves. Male Cavengauu often babysit while females search for food.
  • Cavengauu are monogamous and have partners for life. Cavengauu heads are very picky; in order to become partners, each head on one Cavengauu has to like all three heads on another Cavengauu. Often, they gift prized items to their partners. Same-gender Cavengauu couples are common.
  • If a head is undesirable, the other heads will rip it off.
  • Cavengauu will knock each other's tails together as a means of affection. When sleeping, they almost always sleep with one another.
  • Growth stage determines their colors: Green Cavengauu are just babies/juveniles. They don't taste particularly very good but otherwise are vulnerable to most predators. Juvenile Cavengauu are especially playful and can sometimes be seen batting smaller creatures (Such as Minawii) around in the water. Yellow Cavengauu are mature adults and have developed a thick, tough peel to protect their bodies. Brown/Black Cavengauu are elders and need to be cared for by their kind. Their flesh is soft and mushy, leaving predators struggling to open and close their mouths afterward.
  • Cavengauu almost entirely feed on poisonous/toxic creatures. As a result, it makes their peels very gross and unappetizing to chew on. Their diet also makes their meat to become slightly radioactive; large amounts can sometimes make creatures feel sick. Their peel is not skin and doesn't hurt when removed. However, doing so forever leaves them vulnerable to predators.
  • Cavengauu raid nests and eat the eggs of smaller creatures often as well.
  • Cavengauu can't swim, however they can easily float.

Trivia

  • Concept by psychwardsocks. Cavengauu was inspired by bananas, ball pythons, Hydra, and large, slow-moving sauropods. Its name may refer from the Cavendish banana.
  • Animated by Mukudori.
  • According to psychwardsocks, Cavengauu comes in different colors, such as Blue Java, or pink. Green Cavengauu are juveniles. In-game, Cavengauu's palette includes red and various greens to reference the variety of colors seen in real-world bananas and their cultivars.
  • Baby Cavengauu are called seedlings.
  • Cavengauu is the second three-headed creature added to the game, the first being Ahri'Tahmuk.
  • The Cavengauu has light yellow blood. Due to this, when killed in the Legacy version of the game, the Cavengauu drops a light yellow carcass. This is probably a reference to banana milkshakes or mashed bananas in general.
  • Cavengauu is the second Mission System creature that cannot be used to unlock its own mission if one tried to do it in Legacy. This is due to how its photocarnivore diet makes drinking water impossible. Even then, its mobility type reduces swim speed significantly, making any task requiring swimming X studs underwater quite lengthy and difficult to perform. In Recode, the water drinking mission has been replaced, but the swim mission still exists. In Recode, you still cannot complete the missions in one go, since you need to grow 5 photocarnivores.
  • Players often call the Cavengauu 'Banana' or 'Banana Hydra' due to its appearance.
