Abilities

Burrower (4)
Burrower is an active ability that allows the user to place up to 4 (or a specific creature limit) burrows anywhere on the map and use burrows created by other players. If a user places more entrances than the maximum allowed, the oldest burrow and exit will be replaced. A user cannot place a burrow entrance inside its own burrow or inside someone else's burrow. There is a 3 second cooldown between entering and exiting burrows, excluding entering a burrow after its initial placement.
Dazzling Flash
Dazzling Flash is an active ability that generates a quick white flash and causes nearby creatures to experience confusion, tunnel vision, and blurred vision. It has a 70 second cooldown.
Latch
Latch is an active ability that allows the user to latch onto higher-tiered creatures. Creatures that the user has latched into cannot escape for 5 seconds. After that, the latched creature can struggle by pressing any button and will release such creature from the latch. The user can unlatch at any moment by pressing the same button used to latch in the first place.
Defensive Necropoison (1)
Defensive Necropoison is a passive ability that makes the user deal Necropoison Status to an attacker upon being bitten. It stacks with itself, but does not get worse over time.
Necropoison Attack (2)
Necropoison Attack is a passive ability that allows the user to deal Necropoison Status to any creature it bites. It stacks with itself but does not get worse over time. A negative value means that it heals an amount of such status upon biting.
Strength In Numbers
Strength In Numbers is a passive ability that gives the user a 7% stamina regeneration boost and a 1.5% damage boost. It stacks according to how many creatures with the same ability and species are nearby. If there are no other users with this ability nearby, it will not provide the boost.

Behavior

  • Burrower is an active ability that allows the user to place up to 4 (or a specific creature limit) burrows anywhere on the map and use burrows created by other players.
  • Day/Night Time Status is an environmental status effect that confers a +5% damage, +25% stamina regen, -10% growth time, and +15% health regen at day; along with -5% damage, -25% stamina regen, and -15% health regen at night to photovores and photocarnivores.
  • Dazzling Flash is an activated ability that generates a quick, bright, white flash and causes nearby creatures to experience confusion, tunnel vision, and blurred vision. It has a 70-second cooldown.
  • Defensive Necropoison is a passive ability that makes the user deal Necropoison Status to an attacker upon being bitten. It stacks with itself, but does not get worse over time.
  • Glide is an active ability pertaining to the special control Jump/Dart/Glide/Flight and inherent to all gliders and glider semi-aquatics. Flier creatures have this ability as well, but can only be toggled by pressing (F on PC or on Mobile) or the respective button on mobile after initializing flight. Creatures with glide ability cannot jump, unless it supersedes them via an age value. Depending on some creature factors like tier and glide stamina regeneration, as well as some environmental conditions, a creature can or cannot regain stamina while gliding.
  • Jump is an active ability pertaining to the special control Jump/Dart/Glide/Flight that allows a creature to jump on land. Creatures can turn during jumping. If a semi-aquatic creature with Jump starts swimming and tries to jump, they will Dart instead.

Trivia

  • Original concept by Meowchellelee in the Creatures of Sonaria Discord. The Shiyaro was "based off Gloriosa superba/fire lily (flower). It was also a little bit inspired off of Mekmek (by Stood_04) since in my mind (at that time it wasn't modeled yet), Mekmek was a very light gliding creature with large thin wings." (Quoted by concept creator Meowchellelee)
  • Modeled by Erythia.
  • Redesign concept by noth626274 in the Creatures of Sonaria Discord. Shiyaro's redesign drew inspiration from succulent plants, Aloe vera, and the King of Saxony bird-of-paradise. It was also designed with raptor-like qualities and "slight dinosaur anatomy" in mind. noth626274 also states that they "tried [to] keep similar attributes from the original design."
  • Redesign rigged by Mezzioli.
  • The Shiyaro has light green blood. Due to this, when killed in Legacy, the Shiyaro drops a light green carcass. This is an actual color in some Earth creatures: both from those that use chlorocruorin, a green oxygen carrier that replaces hemoglobin in some invertebrates blood; and in some vertebrates (like some green tree skinks) that have adapted to carry lethal amounts of biliverdin in their blood, which is a toxic byproduct of heme catabolism whose only good side is that it has anti-mutagenic properties. It is possibly green just because of the inspiration of this creature, meaning the blood could be sap, which is more fitting for the Shiyaro, due to its photovoric nature.
  • The original Shiyaro was the first creature that does not have its 'wings' as a juvenile, meaning it can't fly until it reaches teen, just like the Akorbik, Anutill, Astrothi, Dabaemura, Hallucinix, Lucensia, Momola, Noctla'Lune, Voletexius, Wuggawyrm, Xeleviprex, and Zhelijin. However, while the current Shiyaro has chick-like wings during its juvenile stage, it still cannot fly until it becomes teen.
