Abilities

Burrower (3)

Burrower is an active ability that allows the user to place up to 4 (or a specific creature limit) burrows anywhere on the map and use burrows created by other players. If a user places more entrances than the maximum allowed, the oldest burrow and exit will be replaced. A user cannot place a burrow entrance inside its own burrow or inside someone else's burrow. There is a 3 second cooldown between entering and exiting burrows, excluding entering a burrow after its initial placement.

Invisibility

Invisibility is an active ability that makes the user invisible to other players when toggled. Invisibility allows the user to walk and swim cloaked as long as they don't bite, use any active ability, sprint, ambush, or jump/fly/glide. While active it does not hide the creature from being spotted by scent. Additionally, invisibility has a 30 second cooldown after being activated; however, deactivating the ability does not modify the cooldown.

Sticky Trap

Sticky Trap is an active ability that allows the user to drop a trap which will cause those ensnared to receive the Sticky Trap Status and 4 seconds of Broken Legs Status. It has a 75-second cooldown. Multiple sticky traps can be placed by the same user, but if two sticky traps of the same user are too close from each another, the oldest one will disappear. If more than 2 sticky traps are placed at one time, the oldest one will eventually despawn. Sticky traps can be destroyed if they receive enough hits.

Block Bleed (0.10)

Bleed Block/Block Bleed is a percentage based passive ability that grants the user resistance to getting bleed status from melee attacks at minimum. If an attacker deals 5 bleed per hit and the receiver has 60% Block Bleed, then the receiver gets only 2 of that 5 bleed. This ability is gained gradually as the creature ages. If a creature's Block Bleed is 100%, then they are immune to Bleed inflicted by melee direct attacks once fully grown. If a creature's Block Bleed is negative, it may indicate an extra vulnerability to the status effect.

Climber

Climber is a passive ability that allows the user to walk on walls and ceilings. To detach from a wall, press the Space on PC. On Mobile, press the dedicated Detach button, or, if the creature has Jump, press the jump button.

Iron Stomach

Iron Stomach is a passive ability that allows the user to eat rotten meat without getting negative ailments from it--preventing them from getting the Sickly Status.

Poison Attack (1.5)

Poison Attack is a passive ability that makes the user deal Poison Status to another creature upon biting them. It stacks with itself. A negative value means that it heals an amount of such status upon biting.

Toxic Trail (0.15)

Toxic Trail is a passive ability activated only when the user is below a creature-specific health percentage. It leaves behind a trail made up of segments that last for 5 seconds before despawning. Stepping on the trail causes 3% damage per second and 3 stacks of poison per second.

Appearance

Viracniar resemble arachnids in structure, with eight legs (the front ones having webbed footing while the other pairs are furred) a cephalothorax-like head (but mostly torso) and a bulbous, armor-plate-covered opisthosoma ("abdomen-like" part at the end of its body), with the Viracniar sharing some characteristics to ant-mimicking spiders and short-tailed whipscorpions, such as a much more slender and elongated body than the norm with "mandible-like" chelicerae on both sides of its jaw that point diagonally-forward instead of down. The Viracniar also has a diamond-like shape found in the middle of its forehead and on its limbs. It displays purple, orange, and green coloring, with its chelicerae sporting the same pale green color. **Males**: Males have three pairs of antennae-like structures on their lower opisthosoma. Males have three pairs of antennae-like structures on their lower opisthosoma. **Females**: Females have two pairs of antennae-like structures on their neck. Females have two pairs of antennae-like structures on their neck.

Behavior

  • Viracniars get on their back legs and dance when threatened.
  • The mandibles on the top of their head are solely for showing emotion. They flare out when threatened, lay down flat when scared, etc.
  • Viracniar babies love dropping from high places to scare their siblings.
  • Viracniars are actually pack hunters when they are juveniles and split up once they reach adulthood.
  • If a Viracniar likes the smell of certain large species of flower they may bask inside of it after a meal.

Trivia

  • Concept by Shugalio_333 in the Creatures of Sonaria Discord. Inspired by the redknee tarantula, spider lilies, and Halloween-y colors.
  • Model by JaxonBirb.
  • Animations by Mukudori.
  • It is the fourth creature with eight limbs, the first three creatures to have this trait are Ura, pre-redesign Verdant Warden, and Sigmatox.
  • Viracniar doesn't often create sound while walking although the surfaces where they are best observed producing sound are rocky and sandy terrain, especially with an absence of grass.
