Appearance

The Aholai is a quadrupedal creature with deer-like anatomy that partially resembles an apple. Plating resembling apple slices covers its back, legs, underbelly, and neck. The "apple slices" present on the sides of its neck can flare up in an aggressive stance, much like that of modern frilled lizards or possibly the dilophosaurus. Leaves make up its tail and adorn both sides of its head, with two long, slender leaves sprouting from the back of its head. Under its throat are four whisker-like appendages.

**Male**: Males have a crest in the shape of an apple slice on their heads.

Abilities

Speed Blitz
Speed Blitz is an active ability that will consume half of the user's stamina bar if it is above 50% and apply 6 stacks (18 seconds) of the Speed Blitz Status. It has a 90 second cooldown.
Block Bleed (0.10)
Bleed Block/Block Bleed is a percentage based passive ability that grants the user resistance to getting bleed status from melee attacks at minimum. If an attacker deals 5 bleed per hit and the receiver has 60% Block Bleed, then the receiver gets only 2 of that 5 bleed. This ability is gained gradually as the creature ages. If a creature's Block Bleed is 100%, then they are immune to Bleed inflicted by melee direct attacks once fully grown. If a creature's Block Bleed is negative, it may indicate an extra vulnerability to the status effect.
Block Necropoison (0.50)
Block Necropoison is a resistance against the Necropoison Status that reduces the amount of status absorbed and damage dealt by it when accumulating this status.
Block Poison (0.75)
Block Poison/Poison Block is a passive ability that grants resistance to poison status once they reach max age (100). Like many other block defenses, it works by blocking a percentage of the ailment received. If a creature's Poison Block is 100%, then they are immune to those stats (and will be healed instantly if they are somehow applied) once they reach age 100.
Defensive Disease (2)
Defensive Disease is a passive ability where the user defensively inflicts a specific amount of Disease status on an attacker upon getting bitten.
Defensive Necropoison (2)
Defensive Necropoison is a passive ability that makes the user deal Necropoison Status to an attacker upon being bitten. It stacks with itself, but does not get worse over time.
Toxic Trail (0.75)
Toxic Trail is a passive ability activated only when the user is below a creature-specific health percentage. It leaves behind a trail made up of segments that last for 5 seconds before despawning. Stepping on the trail causes 3% damage per second and 3 stacks of poison per second.
Will To Live
Will To Live is a passive ability that allows the user to sprint without spending stamina. However, if stamina is depleted and the creature attempts to sprint, it will deal 3% of health every 3 seconds.

Trivia

  • Concept by Stood_04 on the Creatures of Sonaria discord. This creature wasn't inspired by anything in particular. Stood_04 just liked deer, and Erythia wanted apples, which turned into the Aholai. The Aholai's pomaceous appearance and its ability to inflict Necro Poison may be a reference to how apple seeds contain cyanide, a poisonous chemical, and some species of "poisonous apples".
  • The model and animations were made by Erythia.
  • In-game, the Aholai is often called "apple deer", which refers to its apple-like plates and deer-like stature.
  • Along with other non-limited photovores and photocarnivores, it got moved to the Photovore Explorer Gacha upon its release.
