Abilities

Grab

Grab is an active ability that allows the user to pick up a lower-tiered creature. Grabbed creatures cannot escape for 5 seconds. After that, the grabbed creature can struggle by pressing any button and will be released from the grab. The user can ungrab at any moment by pressing the same button used to grab. A creature darting from outside water will grab any creature it finds automatically.

Burn Attack (2.5)

Burn Attack is an ability that offensively deals burn when biting. Stacks with itself. A negative value means that it heals an amount of such status upon biting.

Block Bleed (0.35)

Bleed Block/Block Bleed is a percentage based passive ability that grants the user resistance to getting bleed status from melee attacks at minimum. If an attacker deals 5 bleed per hit and the receiver has 60% Block Bleed, then the receiver gets only 2 of that 5 bleed. This ability is gained gradually as the creature ages. If a creature's Block Bleed is 100%, then they are immune to Bleed inflicted by melee direct attacks once fully grown. If a creature's Block Bleed is negative, it may indicate an extra vulnerability to the status effect.

Block Burn (0.75)

Burn Block/Block Burn is a passive ability that grants the user resistance to getting burn status from melee attacks. It is percentage based. For example, if an attacker deals 5 burn per hit and the receiver has 60% block burn, then the receiver gets only 2 of that 5 burn. If a creature's block burn is 100%, then they are immune to Burn inflicted by melee direct attacks once fully grown. This ability is gained gradually as the creature ages. A negative value may indicate that the creature is vulnerable to burn effects.

Iron Stomach

Iron Stomach is a passive ability that allows the user to eat rotten meat without getting negative ailments from it--preventing them from getting the Sickly Status.

Quick Recovery

Quick Recovery is a passive ability that boosts HP regeneration when the user's health is below 40%. The lower the health, the higher the HP regeneration boost.

Volcanic

Volcanic is a passive ability that grants users the ability to walk in lava without getting hurt or suffering status debuffs. During Famine and Drought, it additionally grants a 50% health regeneration boost and 25% thirst and hunger rate reduction. Volcanic does not protect a creature from Shadow Isle's corrupted lava.

Appearance

The Aolenus is a big, colorful bird-like creature with shiny feathers that emit smoke particles when it flies or glides as an adult. It has a crown of horns on its head and a toe claw similar to those seen in dromaeosaurs that is possibly for attacking enemies. Additionally, it has a feather "crown" on its head resembling that of a crested hawk-eagle. Physically, it bears many resemblances to modern birds of prey like eagles and hawks. **Male**: Males have a set of four feathers on each side of their head. Males have a set of four feathers on each side of their head. **Female**: Females have no additional features. Females have no additional features.

  • Like the Keruku, it is now only obtainable through trading, buying a stored version, or nesting. Upon release, there were 544,698 Aolenus species existing in-game, which is based on the number of people that played during Beta and automatically received the badge as a result of their visit. However, the Tikit system may have removed some from the economy. The Beta Tester Badge count is featured on the game's Main Page.
  • Aolenus was described as "hard to master" by Erythia.
  • Some people refer to this as the "Beta Bird" or “Phoenix”, although the concept creator (aelures) stated they did not want this creature to be compared to a phoenix.
  • In the public test world (Sonaria map redesign) near the spawn, there was what appeared to be a destroyed Aolenus, with all its model parts spread out and a pink block in the middle. As of November 2021, this has been fixed, and as of January 2022, it has been removed.
