Appearance

The Dalghara is a large, winged creature with looks that resemble that of a manta ray's. Its tail is long and thin, ending with a layered fin. Two other pairs of patterned fins can be found on its body, one seemingly where its neck ends and the other close to where the tail begins. A small, triangular head rests on a plated, bulky neck, making it front heavy. A pair of delicate horns can be found on the back of its head, and little tusk-like horns can be found near its cheeks. Its two pairs of wings are huge and spiked, starting from the middle of the neck and ending at the middle of its tail. One pair of wings have chambered patterns, faintly resembling a Monarch butterfly's, and the other, larger pair has a tipped-line pattern going from shoulder joint to the end, only being stopped by a line going around the wing. Its color palette consists of purples, black, and dusty oranges/yellows.

Abilities

Dazzling Flash
Dazzling Flash is an active ability that generates a quick white flash and causes nearby creatures to experience confusion, tunnel vision, and blurred vision. It has a 70 second cooldown.
Gale
Gale is an active ability that slows down nearby creatures' swim and sprint speeds by 25% and impacts their vision. Upon activation, a translucid shockwave-like effect will appear and explode, only to contract a second later. Has a 90 second cooldown.
Agile Swimmer
Agile Swimmer is a passive ability that causes the player to receive the following buffs when submerged underwater for more than a second: 100% more stamina regeneration 50% more total stamina 75% more walk speed 75% more sprint speed A % increase in oxygen (oxygen increase percentage is based off the amount of oxygen the creature originally has) Additionally, a glider semi-aquatic (and an aqua-glider) can abuse the extra stamina to increase the number of glide flaps it can perform from the water boosted. Until they touch the ground or stop gliding, the boosted stamina amount will remain.
Block Bleed (0.6)
Bleed Block/Block Bleed is a percentage based passive ability that grants the user resistance to getting bleed status from melee attacks at minimum. If an attacker deals 5 bleed per hit and the receiver has 60% Block Bleed, then the receiver gets only 2 of that 5 bleed. This ability is gained gradually as the creature ages. If a creature's Block Bleed is 100%, then they are immune to Bleed inflicted by melee direct attacks once fully grown. If a creature's Block Bleed is negative, it may indicate an extra vulnerability to the status effect.
Block Burn (0.3)
Burn Block/Block Burn is a passive ability that grants the user resistance to getting burn status from melee attacks. It is percentage based. For example, if an attacker deals 5 burn per hit and the receiver has 60% block burn, then the receiver gets only 2 of that 5 burn. If a creature's block burn is 100%, then they are immune to Burn inflicted by melee direct attacks once fully grown. This ability is gained gradually as the creature ages. A negative value may indicate that the creature is vulnerable to burn effects.
Block Poison (0.4)
Block Poison/Poison Block is a passive ability that grants resistance to poison status once they reach max age (100). Like many other block defenses, it works by blocking a percentage of the ailment received. If a creature's Poison Block is 100%, then they are immune to those stats (and will be healed instantly if they are somehow applied) once they reach age 100.
Diver (6)
Diver is a passive ability that grants the user the ability to temporarily keep flying underwater for a short period of time while retaining their diving speed. The exact period of time varies per creature.

Behavior

  • Dalghara find Tier 1 creatures cute in the same way elephants find humans cute.
  • Dalghara are very affectionate with their packmates as well as other passive creatures, especially the Delmothin. They are quoted to be similar to "the nice family that feeds the neighborhood on holidays" by Xin.
  • They despise mud and general filth.

Trivia

  • Original concept by @xinnten on the Creatures of Sonaria Discord. The original concept was not inspired by anything in particular, and was said to have "came straight out of the noggin" (quoted by concept creator, xinnten). The redesign was inspired by butterflies, manta rays, sunsets, stars, and whales.
  • The Dalghara's original design was modeled by TamBrush.
  • The Dalghara currently reuses modified/reverberated/inverted/canon Arrainoa broadcast as aggressive call/aggro, plus a hybrid of Brequewk's and Arrainoa's for the rest.
