Appearance

The Fluren is a small dromaeosaurid-like creature covered in many leafy frills with vein-like structures. Larger frills adorn its head, while leafy frills resembling fins run down its neck, back, and the underside of the tail, which helps with maneuverability. Its long, thin tail also ends with a leafy fin, presumably acting as a rudder of sorts. Its long arms have leafy feathers, almost like wings, despite being flightless, and are used to slow down its descent while jumping, similar to dromaeosaurids and modern day birds. The Fluren's head features a few stem-like tendrils with small, bulb-like bioluminescent organs at the tips, with two pairs extending above the eyes and two longer pairs behind the jaw. More of these tendrils can be seen at the thighs, base of the tail, and lower down the tail. The Fluren has small eyes, no teeth, and its jaw structure forms somewhat of a downward drooping beak, accompanied by a long chin. Its back is lined with presumably thin armor plates, which also appear on its arms. It has long legs that support it for running long distances and performing high jumps, and feathers covering the thighs. Also, its feet are bird-like, with toes arranged in an anisodactyl formation. In general, its whole body resembles that of a raptor-shaped stick/leaf insect.

**Males**: Males have extra stem-like tendrils extending from the snout, each with bulb-like bioluminescent tips.

Abilities

Invisibility
Invisibility is an active ability that makes the user invisible to other players when toggled. Invisibility allows the user to walk and swim cloaked as long as they don't bite, use any active ability, sprint, ambush, or jump/fly/glide. While active it does not hide the creature from being spotted by scent. Additionally, invisibility has a 30 second cooldown after being activated; however, deactivating the ability does not modify the cooldown.
Block Bleed (-0.25)
Bleed Block/Block Bleed is a percentage based passive ability that grants the user resistance to getting bleed status from melee attacks at minimum. If an attacker deals 5 bleed per hit and the receiver has 60% Block Bleed, then the receiver gets only 2 of that 5 bleed. This ability is gained gradually as the creature ages. If a creature's Block Bleed is 100%, then they are immune to Bleed inflicted by melee direct attacks once fully grown. If a creature's Block Bleed is negative, it may indicate an extra vulnerability to the status effect.
Block Burn (-0.25)
Burn Block/Block Burn is a passive ability that grants the user resistance to getting burn status from melee attacks. It is percentage based. For example, if an attacker deals 5 burn per hit and the receiver has 60% block burn, then the receiver gets only 2 of that 5 burn. If a creature's block burn is 100%, then they are immune to Burn inflicted by melee direct attacks once fully grown. This ability is gained gradually as the creature ages. A negative value may indicate that the creature is vulnerable to burn effects.
Block Poison (0.6)
Block Poison/Poison Block is a passive ability that grants resistance to poison status once they reach max age (100). Like many other block defenses, it works by blocking a percentage of the ailment received. If a creature's Poison Block is 100%, then they are immune to those stats (and will be healed instantly if they are somehow applied) once they reach age 100.
Climber
Climber is a passive ability that allows the user to walk on walls and ceilings. To detach from a wall, press the Space on PC. On Mobile, press the dedicated Detach button, or, if the creature has Jump, press the jump button.
Corrosion Attack (2)
Corrosion Attack/Corrosion Bite is an ability that offensively deals Corrosion when biting. It stacks with itself. A negative value means that it heals an amount of such status upon biting.
Defensive Poison (2.5)
Defensive Poison/Melee Toxin is a passive ability that makes the user deal Poison Status to an attacker upon being attacked. Stacks with itself.
Poison Attack (1.5)
Poison Attack is a passive ability that makes the user deal Poison Status to another creature upon biting them. It stacks with itself. A negative value means that it heals an amount of such status upon biting.
Raider
Raider is a passive ability that allows users to enter and exit burrows, but not create them.
Soft Landing (0.9)
Soft Landing is a passive ability that allows the user to fall more slowly, depending on each creature's specific stat number. It works when walking off cliffs/falling, detaching, darting, or jumping. It is cancellable by pressing (Space on PC or or B on Xbox).
Will To Live
Will To Live is a passive ability that allows the user to sprint without spending stamina. However, if stamina is depleted and the creature attempts to sprint, it will deal 3% of health every 3 seconds.

Trivia

  • Concept by retronintendo102 in the Creatures of Sonaria Discord.
  • Fluren is the first photovore added in the Artifact Shop. However, it is the second photo-diet creature in that shop, with Quezekel, a photocarnivore, being the first.
