Appearance

The Hygos is a massive quadrupedal creature with a body structure similar to a jaguar or tiger. It boasts an impressive crest along the top of its skull, the extremity of its tail, and its body is interwoven with a series of ornate, thorn-covered ridges. On closer inspection, the spikes covering its jaw conceal a more menacing truth: from top to bottom, the Hygos possesses a string of unfathomably long and sharp teeth, pairing well with its long, sharp claws. The Hygos has strange blob-like, fluorescent patterns along its shoulders, back legs, and throat.

**Males**: Males have an extra plate extending from their cheeks.

Abilities

Bleed Attack (3)
Bleed Attack is a passive ability, where the user inflicts a specific amount of bleed status on a creature with every bite, excluding with breath/ranged abilities or reflecting abilities. A negative value means that it heals an amount of such status upon biting.
Block Bleed (0.2)
Bleed Block/Block Bleed is a percentage based passive ability that grants the user resistance to getting bleed status from melee attacks at minimum. If an attacker deals 5 bleed per hit and the receiver has 60% Block Bleed, then the receiver gets only 2 of that 5 bleed. This ability is gained gradually as the creature ages. If a creature's Block Bleed is 100%, then they are immune to Bleed inflicted by melee direct attacks once fully grown. If a creature's Block Bleed is negative, it may indicate an extra vulnerability to the status effect.
Block Poison (0.3)
Block Poison/Poison Block is a passive ability that grants resistance to poison status once they reach max age (100). Like many other block defenses, it works by blocking a percentage of the ailment received. If a creature's Poison Block is 100%, then they are immune to those stats (and will be healed instantly if they are somehow applied) once they reach age 100.
Iron Stomach
Iron Stomach is a passive ability that allows the user to eat rotten meat without getting negative ailments from it--preventing them from getting the Sickly Status.
Poison Attack (2)
Poison Attack is a passive ability that makes the user deal Poison Status to another creature upon biting them. It stacks with itself. A negative value means that it heals an amount of such status upon biting.
Serrated Teeth
Serrated Teeth is a passive ability that offensively inflicts Deep Wounds status when biting.

Behavior

  • Hygos spend most of the daytime laying in the sun to gain energy to hunt creatures during the night.
  • They are very territorial and often compete with each other for land with the best sunning spots.
  • Every Hygos has its own unique spotting and can have a variety of patterns and frill shapes.
  • Hygos has two circulatory systems, one for blood, and another for a substance similar to chlorophyll. At night they shut down the secondary. This causes their color to temporarily fade into a grey (depending on coloration they could also be very red).

Trivia

  • Concept by Stood_04. The Hygos was inspired by dead leaves, venus flytraps, and various aloe/aloe-like plants.
  • Before Hygos was released or any mentions about it were in the Developer News, it appeared on the Official Creatures page as a pure black model, titled with "???".
