Appearance

The Oxytalis is a quadrupedal beast with some resemblance to a rose, having strong forelegs/arms and bird-like rear legs. Its default colors consist of dark green, red, and white, with the main body being mostly dark green. Its head is shaped like a sunflower seed, with a beak-like mouth pointing downwards and two uncanny eyes, giving it a mask-like appearance. Around its head are petal-like frills with stemy thorns between them. Thorns of various sizes can be seen on its short, thick neck, shoulders, and knees. On its back are three pairs of leaf-like wings, the largest pair being higher up on the back and decreasing in size until the last pair lower down. The Oxytalis has a long cape-like structure between the wings, ending into six tail-like strips with spiny tips. The cape itself has an intricate design, including two upside-down hearts with what looks like thorns sticking out of their heads, and another one upright where the six splits begin. Its forelegs seem to have bloodstained markings, the darkest markings being at the hands, which have round spiny fingers/toes and hooked claws. It also has a white heart-like marking on both wrists. Its rear legs are stout and appears to have anisodactyl spiny feet with curved talons. Additionally, hanging down from the bottom of its head petals, neck, and between its fingers are jewelry-like accessories decorated with beads and ending in what looks to be a shape of an upside-down heart.

**Males**: Males have no additional features.

**Females**: Females have extra jewelry-like accessories hanging from the thorns at the base of their neck, with one hanging from the largest thorn and two connecting between the other thorns.

Abilities

Invisibility
Invisibility is an active ability that makes the user invisible to other players when toggled. Invisibility allows the user to walk and swim cloaked as long as they don't bite, use any active ability, sprint, ambush, or jump/fly/glide. While active it does not hide the creature from being spotted by scent. Additionally, invisibility has a 30 second cooldown after being activated; however, deactivating the ability does not modify the cooldown.
Life Leech (0.3)
Life Leech is an active ability that allows the user to heal themselves for a certain percentage (%) of damage done to other players while the ability is active. Can be boosted by healing plushies or a healer-based creature.
Mud Pile
Mud Pile is an active ability that allows the user to place a mud pile that lasts for 60 seconds. Creatures can wallow in the mud to gain healing Muddy status and unscentable status for 90 seconds.
Radiation (3)
Radiation is a toggleable (ON/OFF) area-of-effect (AOE) ability that gives Corrosion status to nearby creatures. The severity of corrosion received is determined by proximity to the user. It can go from the base damage indicated on the creature labels (usually 0.25) per tick from afar to twice that value (0.5) per tick around mid-range, and finally going to thrice the original value (0.75) per tick when close. A creature emitting radiation can be spotted by a green spherical glow around their body.
Bleed Attack (4)
Bleed Attack is a passive ability, where the user inflicts a specific amount of bleed status on a creature with every bite, excluding with breath/ranged abilities or reflecting abilities. A negative value means that it heals an amount of such status upon biting.
Block Bleed (0.5)
Bleed Block/Block Bleed is a percentage based passive ability that grants the user resistance to getting bleed status from melee attacks at minimum. If an attacker deals 5 bleed per hit and the receiver has 60% Block Bleed, then the receiver gets only 2 of that 5 bleed. This ability is gained gradually as the creature ages. If a creature's Block Bleed is 100%, then they are immune to Bleed inflicted by melee direct attacks once fully grown. If a creature's Block Bleed is negative, it may indicate an extra vulnerability to the status effect.
Block Burn (-0.4)
Burn Block/Block Burn is a passive ability that grants the user resistance to getting burn status from melee attacks. It is percentage based. For example, if an attacker deals 5 burn per hit and the receiver has 60% block burn, then the receiver gets only 2 of that 5 burn. If a creature's block burn is 100%, then they are immune to Burn inflicted by melee direct attacks once fully grown. This ability is gained gradually as the creature ages. A negative value may indicate that the creature is vulnerable to burn effects.
Block Injury (0.3)
Injury Block/Block Injury is a passive ability that grants the user resistance to getting Injury status from melee attacks at the very least. It is percentage based, e.g. if an attacker deals 5 Injury per hit and the receiver has 60% Injury Block, then the receiver gets only 2 of that 5 Injury.
Block Poison (0.8)
Block Poison/Poison Block is a passive ability that grants resistance to poison status once they reach max age (100). Like many other block defenses, it works by blocking a percentage of the ailment received. If a creature's Poison Block is 100%, then they are immune to those stats (and will be healed instantly if they are somehow applied) once they reach age 100.
Iron Stomach
Iron Stomach is a passive ability that allows the user to eat rotten meat without getting negative ailments from it--preventing them from getting the Sickly Status.

Behavior

  • The Oxytalis is smart and possess basic problem-solving and ambush abilities, but comparable to a reptile's, not a mammal. Its intelligence level does not prevent these creatures from being able to make small beads, kinda like how spiders can make complex webs but are not tremendously intelligent.
  • Oxytalis are quite solitary and lack any empathy.

Trivia

  • Concept by PineStraww and CatasticalCalamity in the Creatures of Sonaria Discord.
  • Upon its release, the Oxytalis had borrowed the In-game Description of Empiterium.
  • When using the Invisibility after activating the Radiation ability, you can still see a glowing, yellow-colored transparent forcefield, similar to when Vaumora activates its Shock Area ability.
