Appearance

The Ura is long, slim creature, bearing a heavy resemblance to a Chinese Eastern dragon. It has four pairs of legs, with three of them being located towards its front and the fourth set towards its back. The Ura has a smooth face, with square plates lining its jaws and long, tufted ears. Along its neck is a large mane and several feather-like decorations which line the back and sides of its neck. It also has distinct semi-circular flaps which line its neck and other parts of its body, like its midsection, hips, and tail. Its entire back seems to be lined with fur, with it accumulating in certain areas. In particular, there is a larger puff of fur reminiscent of its mane with feathery decorations on the midsection of its back, and its tail ends in a large but smooth tuft of fur. It also has a large collection of feathery decorations near its hips, which sweep over to the tail, and lie on top of the semi-circular flaps in that area.

Abilities

Area Water Restore
Area Water Restore is a ranged active ability that has a cooldown of 600 seconds. It refreshes part of any in-range drinkable water sources' quality.
Change Weather
Change Weather is an active ability that forces any current weather to change to a new type, including Thunderstorms. If a natural disaster is already happening, the ability cannot be activated. It can also "appear" to change the day/night cycle (in fact, it really doesn't) if it happens to be night and the ability triggers sunny weather. The ability cannot change a weather immediately after another Change Weather invocation. It can only be used by creatures with age 67 or higher and has a 600 second (10 minute) cooldown.
Healing Pulse
Healing Pulse is an active ability that applies a small hit-point healing buff, as well as the Healing Ailment to creatures around the user and and the user themselves for 12 seconds. When used, a spark explosion effect appears from the user. Has a 90 second cooldown.
Gale
Gale is an active ability that slows down nearby creatures' swim and sprint speeds by 25% and impacts their vision. Upon activation, a translucid shockwave-like effect will appear and explode, only to contract a second later. Has a 90 second cooldown.
Agile Swimmer
Agile Swimmer is a passive ability that causes the player to receive the following buffs when submerged underwater for more than a second: 100% more stamina regeneration 50% more total stamina 75% more walk speed 75% more sprint speed A % increase in oxygen (oxygen increase percentage is based off the amount of oxygen the creature originally has) Additionally, a glider semi-aquatic (and an aqua-glider) can abuse the extra stamina to increase the number of glide flaps it can perform from the water boosted. Until they touch the ground or stop gliding, the boosted stamina amount will remain.
Block Bleed (0.35)
Bleed Block/Block Bleed is a percentage based passive ability that grants the user resistance to getting bleed status from melee attacks at minimum. If an attacker deals 5 bleed per hit and the receiver has 60% Block Bleed, then the receiver gets only 2 of that 5 bleed. This ability is gained gradually as the creature ages. If a creature's Block Bleed is 100%, then they are immune to Bleed inflicted by melee direct attacks once fully grown. If a creature's Block Bleed is negative, it may indicate an extra vulnerability to the status effect.
Diver (3)
Diver is a passive ability that grants the user the ability to temporarily keep flying underwater for a short period of time while retaining their diving speed. The exact period of time varies per creature.
Pack Healer
Pack Healer is a pack-oriented passive ability. This passive ability allows the user to boost the HP regen of their fellow packmates.

Behavior

  • The Ura are incredibly ancient and intelligent, and are able to speak, but choose not to.
  • The Ura are heavily influential in Sonaria's history as mythical creatures and "carriers of storms" (from the fact they follow harsh weather overseas to protect themselves from predators). The Ura manipulate wind currents around their bodies in order to levitate and fly; forming a strong wind tunnel whenever they travel, hence making them immune to rainfall during flight.

Trivia

  • Concept by XTinyDragonX and NauticaElurra. Mainly inspired by the Haku dragon from the movie Spirited Away. Its design was chosen because Naut (the developer Ura represents) likes "blue, feathery things, antlers, and slim creatures". Though in the concept the Ura has fluff on its tail, in-game there are feathers on its tail instead.
  • Modeled by NauticaElurra, rigged by Wolfragon.
  • Originally was in the process of being animated by CatboyNathann, but was handed to Erythia to work on the remaining animations, and finally developed by Nimwit. Ura's animations got improved a second time after release.
  • Ura is the first released Flier and All-Terrain creature with the ability to fly without wings.
