Abilities

Burrower (3)
Burrower is an active ability that allows the user to place up to 4 (or a specific creature limit) burrows anywhere on the map and use burrows created by other players. If a user places more entrances than the maximum allowed, the oldest burrow and exit will be replaced. A user cannot place a burrow entrance inside its own burrow or inside someone else's burrow. There is a 3 second cooldown between entering and exiting burrows, excluding entering a burrow after its initial placement.
Tail Drop
Tail Drop is an active ability which allows a user to intentionally self-amputate a its tail. After committing this action, the user gains the Tail Dropped status, and the tail becomes a meat drop that provides enriched when eaten. If the tail comes from a Photovore or Photocarnivore, it can also be eaten by Herbivores. It has a 10 second cooldown. It takes some percent of the hunger bar to regrow the tail (unless a creature menus).
Agile Swimmer
Agile Swimmer is a passive ability that causes the player to receive the following buffs when submerged underwater for more than a second: 100% more stamina regeneration 50% more total stamina 75% more walk speed 75% more sprint speed A % increase in oxygen (oxygen increase percentage is based off the amount of oxygen the creature originally has) Additionally, a glider semi-aquatic (and an aqua-glider) can abuse the extra stamina to increase the number of glide flaps it can perform from the water boosted. Until they touch the ground or stop gliding, the boosted stamina amount will remain.
Block Bleed (0.15)
Bleed Block/Block Bleed is a percentage based passive ability that grants the user resistance to getting bleed status from melee attacks at minimum. If an attacker deals 5 bleed per hit and the receiver has 60% Block Bleed, then the receiver gets only 2 of that 5 bleed. This ability is gained gradually as the creature ages. If a creature's Block Bleed is 100%, then they are immune to Bleed inflicted by melee direct attacks once fully grown. If a creature's Block Bleed is negative, it may indicate an extra vulnerability to the status effect.
Climber
Climber is a passive ability that allows the user to walk on walls and ceilings. To detach from a wall, press the Space on PC. On Mobile, press the dedicated Detach button, or, if the creature has Jump, press the jump button.
Defensive Necropoison (2.5)
Defensive Necropoison is a passive ability that makes the user deal Necropoison Status to an attacker upon being bitten. It stacks with itself, but does not get worse over time.
Defensive Poison (4)
Defensive Poison/Melee Toxin is a passive ability that makes the user deal Poison Status to an attacker upon being attacked. Stacks with itself.

Behavior

  • Aueko are very playful and enjoy the days as they pass.
  • Aueko emerge around spring and do not have many natural predators. Even when attacked, these playful but skittish creatures bring the sensation of joy and fun to the attacker. If left no choice, Aueko will fight back but will mostly forget about the fight later on. Aueko can recognize and remember faces. If they come across a creature who they have seen kill a pack member, they will avoid them at all costs.
  • Aueko are very sentimental. They care deeply for one another and live in groups of 4-8.
  • When courting, the male offers a female a brightly-colored flower it picked while performing a small ritual of vocalizations and tail waving, inviting the female to join the dance.
  • Aueko's flower is used to make themselves appear bigger or for courting dances.
  • Aueko are excellent parents, nurturing their hatchlings until they are old enough to forage for food.
  • Aueko hatchlings are very curious and will play with other species. This isn't really safe, but most of the time, their parents are nearby.
  • They can climb on most surfaces, like walls and ceilings, thanks to the sticky pads on their feet.

Lore (non-canon)

  • Described to be "arguably the happiest creature of Sonaria" by Kyzenith.
  • Kyzenith noted that the death of an Aueko "is a loss for the attacker as they do not get to experience the real springtime joy".
  • A happy Aueko is a healthy one. In rare cases, when they do not look as bright, it is probably because they are unwell.
  • The flower on an Aueko is like a real flower, but they have good regenerative abilities. This flower can release a sweet scent from the "flower" on their neck to calm an attacker. The type of berries an Aueko eats determine the scent they give off.

Trivia

  • Concept by Kyzenith in the Creatures of Sonaria Discord. Inspired by leopard geckos, Easter eggs, and sakura flowers. Being based on geckos is also why the Aueko has eyelids. When asked about the creature's behavior, Kyzenith noted that the Aueko was one of their favorite concepts.
  • Aueko's model is capable of blinking. Aueko is the third creature capable of blinking, the first ones being Gorgonichus and Anutill, in that order.
  • Aueko's animations have a bug where the back left leg starts acting weirdly and randomly going up for one frame.
  • As of April 10th, 2023, Aueko is the first creature in more than a year to lack a visible Glimmer. Upon the second week of Easter Event 2023, this issue was fixed.
