Appearance

The Ghartokus is a huge theropod partially resembling the Tyrannosaurus rex and some of the Wardens. It presents antlers that sport flowers and hanging draperies, and displays a huge flower on its back. The Ghartokus also has a build similar to that of advanced prehistoric theropods like the Tyrannosaurus, with small arms and heavy legs. Its neck and head fluff lead down to its belly. The Ghartokus has two rows of plates on the top of its body that stop when it reaches the hind legs, and its feet have a total of 5 toes on each foot, one of those toes being vestigial, resembling dewclaws which again, appear on theropod dinosaurs. On its bottom jaw are rocky-like patterns. The Ghartokus is decorated with these patterns, with some of them presenting spirals. These symbols appear on its small arms and the top of its hind legs. The blunt head shape also bears resemblance to some abelisaurids, such as the Carnotaurus or Majungasaurus (the closest one being Pycnonemosaurus).

**Males**: Males sport a fin-like structure located by the lower section of its back.

Abilities

Fortify
Fortify is an active ability with a 90-second cooldown that wipes almost all status effects deemed as negative, excluding thirst, hunger, plushie-derived effects, and weather effects. It will also wipe beneficial status effects if they contain at least one debuff. It grants a short immunity to all status effects gained after being activated, and increases weight by 5% for a short period according to the stack number (3, in this case).
Block Bleed (0.35)
Bleed Block/Block Bleed is a percentage based passive ability that grants the user resistance to getting bleed status from melee attacks at minimum. If an attacker deals 5 bleed per hit and the receiver has 60% Block Bleed, then the receiver gets only 2 of that 5 bleed. This ability is gained gradually as the creature ages. If a creature's Block Bleed is 100%, then they are immune to Bleed inflicted by melee direct attacks once fully grown. If a creature's Block Bleed is negative, it may indicate an extra vulnerability to the status effect.
Breath Resistance (0.60)
Breath Damage Resistance is a passive ability that decreases the percentage of damage received by the user from breath abilities. A 100% breath resistance means full immunity from the damage dealt from breaths, but not for the status effects they afflict, which remain unaffected.
Charge (Crush)
Charge is a passive ability that gradually fills an orange "Charge" bar (unique to creatures with this ability) while running. Once completely full, clicking (Lmb on PC or on Mobile or RT on Xbox) will apply special effects on a creature the user is hitting. If the bar is not full, charge effects may be reduced or non-existent. Current Charge types:
Frosty
Frosty is a passive ability that causes the user to receive +25% stamina regeneration, +25% health regeneration, -25% thirst depletion, and -25% hunger depletion during Winter and Famine. Additionally, it prevents getting hypothermia from blizzards.
Injury Attack (8)
Injury Attack is an ability that offensively deals injury status when biting. A negative value means that it heals an amount of such status upon biting.
Pack Healer
Pack Healer is a pack-oriented passive ability. This passive ability allows the user to boost the HP regen of their fellow packmates.

Trivia

  • Concept by Undeary in the Creatures of Sonaria Discord. Some text on Ghartokus' concept art refers to it by the name "Ghartokus-Rex". This alternative name is currently not referenced in any other official material. Ghartokus' design was based on that of the Wardens, as well as Tyrannosaurus rex.[1]
  • Modeled by Erythia.
  • Players refer the Ghartokus as the "T.rex" because of its design and inspirations.
  • Ghartokus used to hold the title of most expensive artifact shop creature, but as of January 31st, 2025, the title of most expensive artifact shop creature now goes to Khilutatra
