Appearance

The Halaqual is a slim, aerodynamic creature, with a long, thin torso, neck, and tail. The head is small and avian in build with a pointed beak, and has lots of cloud-like plumage and tendrils coming from the base of its head. It has two pairs of large, feathered wings with wispy cloud tendrils coming from the tips and a set of two fingers extending from one of the wing joints. The first set of wings is larger, while the other is smaller, and placed farther behind. The shoulders and chest of the Halaqual are covered in more cloudy plumage. The tail of the creature is long, and ends in a puff of cloudy plumage just like the wingtips. The Halaqual has no legs and walks on the hands of its wings.

**Males**: Males have tendrils coming from below their eyes.

Abilities

Change Weather
Change Weather is an active ability that forces any current weather to change to a new type, including Thunderstorms. If a natural disaster is already happening, the ability cannot be activated. It can also "appear" to change the day/night cycle (in fact, it really doesn't) if it happens to be night and the ability triggers sunny weather. The ability cannot change a weather immediately after another Change Weather invocation. It can only be used by creatures with age 67 or higher and has a 600 second (10 minute) cooldown.
Speed Steal
Speed Steal is an active ability that provides a speed boost to the user while giving 4 stacks of Stolen Speed Status to nearby creatures.
Block Bleed (0.40)
Bleed Block/Block Bleed is a percentage based passive ability that grants the user resistance to getting bleed status from melee attacks at minimum. If an attacker deals 5 bleed per hit and the receiver has 60% Block Bleed, then the receiver gets only 2 of that 5 bleed. This ability is gained gradually as the creature ages. If a creature's Block Bleed is 100%, then they are immune to Bleed inflicted by melee direct attacks once fully grown. If a creature's Block Bleed is negative, it may indicate an extra vulnerability to the status effect.
Block Frostbite (0.30)
Frostbite Block/Block Frostbite is a passive ability that grants the user resistance to getting frostbite status from melee attacks at the very least, and every other source at most. It is percentage based, e.g. if an attacker deals 5 frostbite per hit and the receiver has 60% block frostbite, then the receiver gets only 2 of that 5 frostbite.
Block Injury (0.75)
Injury Block/Block Injury is a passive ability that grants the user resistance to getting Injury status from melee attacks at the very least. It is percentage based, e.g. if an attacker deals 5 Injury per hit and the receiver has 60% Injury Block, then the receiver gets only 2 of that 5 Injury.
Block Poison (0.35)
Block Poison/Poison Block is a passive ability that grants resistance to poison status once they reach max age (100). Like many other block defenses, it works by blocking a percentage of the ailment received. If a creature's Poison Block is 100%, then they are immune to those stats (and will be healed instantly if they are somehow applied) once they reach age 100.
Frosty
Frosty is a passive ability that causes the user to receive +25% stamina regeneration, +25% health regeneration, -25% thirst depletion, and -25% hunger depletion during Winter and Famine. Additionally, it prevents getting hypothermia from blizzards.
Keen Observer
Keen Observer is a passive ability that allows the user to see the health, equipped Plushies, Traits, and status effects of nearby creatures with a green HP bar over them. Temporary status buffs are set on green, temporary status debuffs on red, traits now present their correct indicator and plushies are marked with their plushie icon.
Quick Recovery
Quick Recovery is a passive ability that boosts HP regeneration when the user's health is below 40%. The lower the health, the higher the HP regeneration boost.
Sonic Wings
Sonic Wings is a passive ability that allows the user to idle while flying without consuming or regaining stamina.

Trivia

  • Concept by Stood_04. The Halaqual, aside from being inspired by a theme of the Wind element, was based off of an Amphiptere.
  • Redesign concept by Undeary. Prompted for the air artifact. According to Undeary, "halaqual was initially a design named 'cloufleu' for the air artifact, but it was then decided to be a redesign for halaqual". There were no changes from the initial Cloufleu design to Halaqual redesign. Undeary suggested changing the palette and make it more like Halaqual, but the idea was turned down. However, due to community feedback, it was later announced that the initial redesign would be reworked, specifically the head and color palettes. Originally, the Halaqual redesign had a more seal-like head and a different color scheme as seen in the concept art. The redesign later got a remodel to look more like the original, and a new, more bird-like head.
  • Redesign modeled by nekcihc (Fizzyton).
  • Redesign rigged by Mezzioli.
  • Redesign animated by Myrrethines and Zyraphes.
  • This speedy flyer was the only Limited Gacha creature with the Frosty ability (obtained after Part 3 of the Winter Event of 2021-2022 began). The second limited creature that received this ability was Frigilinx.
  • When the Winter Event (2021-2022) began, the Halaqual saw a huge surge in popularity due to its speed, which allowed for anyone using it to gather presents with relative ease.
  • All of the limited Elemental Creatures were planned to have crystal/gem features, but the Halaqual "broke the trend to keep the design sleeker."
  • The Halaqual's Aggro Call (Call 3) cuts off when played. It is unknown whether this is intentional or a bug.
