Abilities

Burrower (4)
Burrower is an active ability that allows the user to place up to 4 (or a specific creature limit) burrows anywhere on the map and use burrows created by other players. If a user places more entrances than the maximum allowed, the oldest burrow and exit will be replaced. A user cannot place a burrow entrance inside its own burrow or inside someone else's burrow. There is a 3 second cooldown between entering and exiting burrows, excluding entering a burrow after its initial placement.
Escape Area
Escape Area is an active ability that causes 40% total HP damage to the user in exchange for a 100% above-ground movement speed boost and a 50% damage debuff for 10 stacks. It has a 75 second cooldown. Additionally, any of the user's depleted stamina is fully replenished. It cannot be used if the user is at less 40% health total.
Healing Hunter (80)
Healing Hunter is a toggleable active ability that allows the user to deal melee hits that replenish the target's HP when hitting. This ability also allows the healer to toggle between melee heal mode and regular attack mode, where the healer's bites deal melee damage instead. It also prevents bleed and poison-booster plushies from giving extra offensive bleed or poison when hitting under healing mode. If a creature with this ability is on healing mode, they are surrounded by a pink hollow sphere with pink cross particles.
Block Bleed (0.2)
Bleed Block/Block Bleed is a percentage based passive ability that grants the user resistance to getting bleed status from melee attacks at minimum. If an attacker deals 5 bleed per hit and the receiver has 60% Block Bleed, then the receiver gets only 2 of that 5 bleed. This ability is gained gradually as the creature ages. If a creature's Block Bleed is 100%, then they are immune to Bleed inflicted by melee direct attacks once fully grown. If a creature's Block Bleed is negative, it may indicate an extra vulnerability to the status effect.
Keen Observer
Keen Observer is a passive ability that allows the user to see the health, equipped Plushies, Traits, and status effects of nearby creatures with a green HP bar over them. Temporary status buffs are set on green, temporary status debuffs on red, traits now present their correct indicator and plushies are marked with their plushie icon.

Behavior

  • Moonelle are mostly composed of water. This means that they are very vulnerable to being played with, tossed, or dried out until they die from dehydration.
  • Moonelle can eat things that are twice as large as they are.
  • Moonelle travel in groups (called a crescent) of up to 10 thousand.
  • Moonelle retreat underwater during the summer.

Trivia

  • Concept by Xhosa_Onkai on the Creatures of Sonaria Discord server. The Moonelle's design was inspired by moon jellies and Easter eggs.
  • Moonelle is the first creature with pink blood. Due to this, it drops a pink carcass in Legacy when dying. While in real life purple-violet blood exists due to hemerythrin — a respiratory pigment of a purplish/violet color once oxygenated, which replaces hemoglobin in several invertebrates — this specific shade of pink is actually seen commonly in some vertebrates (including humans) suffering from some blood problems. Its meat texture is also translucid, probably in reference to its moon jelly inspiration.
  • Second creature with a negative damage (healing) value, with the first being the Ani.
  • Due to some mistake, Moonelle was initially in the legacy Photovore Explorer Gacha by mistake upon release. This was immediately patched.
  • The Moonelle previously had the highest health regen in-game, tied with Ura and Zhelijin.
  • The Moonelle once had the Guilt Ability, but it was removed when it received an HP buff.
  • The Moonelle was once a photovore, but its diet was changed to herbivore on the update of January 27th, 2023. During its time as a photovore, the Moonelle was the only semi-aquatic photovore in the game. It is the second creature which received a diet change long after its release (which wasn't correcting a release error), the first being Aereis.
