Appearance

The Nolumoth is a medium-large wyvern creature, sporting many adorned fins/frills along its body. The most prominent set are found near the base of its head, which constantly move and twitch to sense its surroundings. The Nolumoth also supports long, thin whiskers found on the base of its chin, back, and also adorned on one of its head frills. This creature is seemingly eyeless, however has a keen sense of smell and sense thanks to its large nostrils and whiskers. This creature, despite having rather large wings, can't support controlled flight and thus resorted to gliding through the skies. The Nolumoth's colors range between deep greens, pale yellows, and hints of black.

**Males**: Males have two pairs of thin spines on their lower jaw.

Abilities

Poison Area
Poison Area/Area Poison is an active ability that inflicts 5 stacks (15 seconds) of the Poison Status to all nearby creatures within 100 studs, excluding the user, with a 90 second cooldown.
Totem (Poison)
Totem is an active ability that allows an adult creature to drop a "lamp" totem, which stays for 2 minutes. It will affect any user in range with a lingering effect of stacking 1 extra of the Poison status per second until they are out of range. These totems can be destroyed if hit enough times.
Block Bleed (0.4)
Bleed Block/Block Bleed is a percentage based passive ability that grants the user resistance to getting bleed status from melee attacks at minimum. If an attacker deals 5 bleed per hit and the receiver has 60% Block Bleed, then the receiver gets only 2 of that 5 bleed. This ability is gained gradually as the creature ages. If a creature's Block Bleed is 100%, then they are immune to Bleed inflicted by melee direct attacks once fully grown. If a creature's Block Bleed is negative, it may indicate an extra vulnerability to the status effect.
Block Poison (0.25)
Block Poison/Poison Block is a passive ability that grants resistance to poison status once they reach max age (100). Like many other block defenses, it works by blocking a percentage of the ailment received. If a creature's Poison Block is 100%, then they are immune to those stats (and will be healed instantly if they are somehow applied) once they reach age 100.
Corrosion Attack (0.5)
Corrosion Attack/Corrosion Bite is an ability that offensively deals Corrosion when biting. It stacks with itself. A negative value means that it heals an amount of such status upon biting.
Defensive Poison (1)
Defensive Poison/Melee Toxin is a passive ability that makes the user deal Poison Status to an attacker upon being attacked. Stacks with itself.
Iron Stomach
Iron Stomach is a passive ability that allows the user to eat rotten meat without getting negative ailments from it--preventing them from getting the Sickly Status.
Poison Attack (1)
Poison Attack is a passive ability that makes the user deal Poison Status to another creature upon biting them. It stacks with itself. A negative value means that it heals an amount of such status upon biting.

Behavior

  • Nolumoths live in warm areas in general, especially green areas, mountainous areas, or open plains.
  • Nolumoths like to hide by trying to mimic themselves as plants, hiding their bare areas and making their whiskers look like plants. One exception to this is when Nolumoth try to find a fancy partner. They will put on a chirpy display and splay out their whiskers and all their extravagant and impressive features to make them look big and a good candidate, despite being a blind creature; using the numerous sensory whisker areas around their bodies to sense things easily, especially micro movements and smells.
  • Nolumoths, despite their jaws and claws, are very scattery creatures and do not hunt often, mainly scavengers. Nolumoth also produce (albeit not enough) of their food from their lattice-like frill structures, which contain chloroplasts. Their green colors come from the chloroplasts in their frills and the color distributes along the body, more vibrant greens can be seen in those areas. These frills also contain toxins, which when the Nolumoth feels threatened are released and used for defense. The plural of Nolumoth is "Nolumae", while a group or family of Nolumae is called a "winnow."

Trivia

  • Original and redesign concept art by vetris/undeary. The redesign was inspired of Venus fly-traps, Ikran from Avatar, and the original concept of Nolumoth.
  • Modeled by NauticaElurra.
  • Undeary, the creator of the concepts, stated in a Wiki comment "The plural of Nolumoth is called a 'Nolumae', while a group or family of Nolumae is called 'a winnow'!"
  • Nolumoth has pink blood. While in real life purple-violet blood exists due to hemerythrin — a respiratory pigment of a purplish/violet color once oxygenated, which replaces hemoglobin in several invertebrates — this specific shade of pink is actually seen commonly in some vertebrates (including humans) suffering from some blood problems. The most likely reason is because of its inspiration, being some kind of sap.
  • There is a current bug that transforms the color orange or related bright colors into Nolumoth's default Green, except for other colors
