Appearance

The Pierry is a bipedal creature with an overall cherry pie theme. It has a wedge-shaped head, similar to that of a slice of pie, with openings on the side revealing a cherry-sludge. On its head it bears decorations similar to that of a cowboy hat, with what appears to be dollops of whipped cream making up the crown of the hat. There are also two cherries situated on top of its "hat." Along its neck and back are two rows of triangular ridges which stop at the creature's rump. Along the sides of its neck and torso are slits which leak and reveal more of the cherry-sludge within the creature, like the slits one might see on a pie. Its tail is disconnected from its body and seems to be made of the same cherry-sludge which leaks from its body, and the tail ends with a large four-fingered hand. Its arms are similar, being disconnected from its body, being made of cherry-sludge, and having four fingers.

**Males**: Males have multiple green ferns floating near the hands.

**Females**: Females have extra cherry sludge leaking from the gap made by the tail.

Abilities

Area Food Restore
Area Food Restore is a ranged active ability with a cooldown of 600 seconds. It refreshes food sources (and stomachs) in range. It does not work on eggs from inside a nest.
Egg Stealer
Egg Stealer is an active ability that allows creatures to steal eggs from the nests of other players. If a creature has this ability, eggs are also highlighted with an egg icon when scenting.
Spite (0.60)
Spite is an active ability that increases a user's next attack damage based on its power meter, which gradually fills once the ability is triggered and then drains to 0 if no creature is attacked by the user during this time. It also has a customizable percentage (%) of the creature's damage (the % listed is the max of said creature's Spite power). Alongside raw damage, the user inflicts double ailments on their targets. The ability has a 20-second cooldown that starts upon activation.
Bleed Attack (2)
Bleed Attack is a passive ability, where the user inflicts a specific amount of bleed status on a creature with every bite, excluding with breath/ranged abilities or reflecting abilities. A negative value means that it heals an amount of such status upon biting.
Block Poison (0.35)
Block Poison/Poison Block is a passive ability that grants resistance to poison status once they reach max age (100). Like many other block defenses, it works by blocking a percentage of the ailment received. If a creature's Poison Block is 100%, then they are immune to those stats (and will be healed instantly if they are somehow applied) once they reach age 100.
Iron Stomach
Iron Stomach is a passive ability that allows the user to eat rotten meat without getting negative ailments from it--preventing them from getting the Sickly Status.
Necropoison Attack (3)
Necropoison Attack is a passive ability that allows the user to deal Necropoison Status to any creature it bites. It stacks with itself but does not get worse over time. A negative value means that it heals an amount of such status upon biting.
Raider
Raider is a passive ability that allows users to enter and exit burrows, but not create them.

Behavior

  • Pierry will sometimes work together in robbing other creatures of their meals. Once the meal is acquired, they will then fight each other for it.
  • Pierry pick on larger creatures since they can outrun/outmaneuver them.
  • Because of their high impulsiveness and low intelligence, Pierry often find themselves in sticky situations.
  • Pierry will eat anything even if it doesn't seem edible.
  • The Pierry uses the large hand on its tail to transport portions of food that they would not be able to carry with their front arms.

Lore (non-canon)

  • Pierry are actually a sentient slime that formed a flexible shell to protect its body. The shell is never fully formed, causing some of the Pierrys inside to drip out. Some say that the goo will eventually develop into another Pierry.
  • Pierry can have all types of fillings (fruits, chocolates, custards, etc.).

Trivia

  • Concept by Poky105 in the Creatures of Sonaria Discord. Inspired by cherry pies, as well as cowboy/bandit designs due to the dessert's popularity in North America. The Pierry's name may also be a combination of the words 'pie' and 'cherry', further referencing this inspiration. The Pierry's chaotic nature was inspired by the "Windowsill Pie Thief" trope seen in old cartoons. The pronunciation of Pierry, "Pie-ree", was included with its concept submission. However, the concept artist stated that they didn't really have a specific pronunciation for its name, so it's up to the individual how they would like to pronounce it.
  • The Pierry is the second creature which has odd number of limbs (5), the first was Ibetchi with 7 limbs. Also, the Pierry is the second creature which has hand in place of tail, the first was Ibetchi.
  • Pierry, along with Cimmabu, is one of the first two creatures to release into the Sweet Explorer Gacha.
  • Pierry's customization menu pose is most likely a reference to Jotaro Kujo from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, based off the way Pierry is posed.
  • Pierry has no visible mouth, so when trying to open it silently (U on PC), nothing happens; albeit the latter is also common of creatures which have non-vertical maws.
