Appearance

The Syroudon is a large aquatic animal, with a total of 9 spikes/dorsal fins on the top half of the body and a pair long teeth coming out of its lower jaw, resembling that of a Strap-Toothed whale. It has a long paddle shaped tail and three (3) pairs of flippers, the first and third pair are small and obviously clawed, while the second pair are large and powerful. The second pair of flippers are the ones that give most of the push to their swimming, along with their tail beats.

**Males**: Males have additional spikes that appear midway on the sides of their tails.

Abilities

Grab
Grab is an active ability that allows the user to pick up a lower-tiered creature. Grabbed creatures cannot escape for 5 seconds. After that, the grabbed creature can struggle by pressing any button and will be released from the grab. The user can ungrab at any moment by pressing the same button used to grab. A creature darting from outside water will grab any creature it finds automatically.
Berserk
Berserk is a passive ability that activates at below 20% health. It increases stamina regeneration by 100% and decreases bite cooldown by 50%.
Bleed Attack (15)
Bleed Attack is a passive ability, where the user inflicts a specific amount of bleed status on a creature with every bite, excluding with breath/ranged abilities or reflecting abilities. A negative value means that it heals an amount of such status upon biting.
Block Bleed (0.3)
Bleed Block/Block Bleed is a percentage based passive ability that grants the user resistance to getting bleed status from melee attacks at minimum. If an attacker deals 5 bleed per hit and the receiver has 60% Block Bleed, then the receiver gets only 2 of that 5 bleed. This ability is gained gradually as the creature ages. If a creature's Block Bleed is 100%, then they are immune to Bleed inflicted by melee direct attacks once fully grown. If a creature's Block Bleed is negative, it may indicate an extra vulnerability to the status effect.
Block Frostbite (0.3)
Frostbite Block/Block Frostbite is a passive ability that grants the user resistance to getting frostbite status from melee attacks at the very least, and every other source at most. It is percentage based, e.g. if an attacker deals 5 frostbite per hit and the receiver has 60% block frostbite, then the receiver gets only 2 of that 5 frostbite.
Block Poison (0.35)
Block Poison/Poison Block is a passive ability that grants resistance to poison status once they reach max age (100). Like many other block defenses, it works by blocking a percentage of the ailment received. If a creature's Poison Block is 100%, then they are immune to those stats (and will be healed instantly if they are somehow applied) once they reach age 100.
Serrated Teeth
Serrated Teeth is a passive ability that offensively inflicts Deep Wounds status when biting.
Wing Shredder (2)
Wing Shredder is a passive ability that allows the user to offensively deal the Shredded Wings status to a creature they bite..

Behavior

  • Syroudon can hold its breath for approximately an hour or two underwater before it's forced to resurface. That means that while they can remain for a long time underwater, they must go to the surface to breath eventually.
  • They will usually linger around semi-shallow waters, but will go out to open ocean areas for feeding.
  • In shallow depths, they use their sense of sight which is pretty average, but in darker waters, will instead rely on smell and touch through disturbances in the water.
  • (Not currently in-game) In terms of depth, Syroudon can reach higher abyssopelagic areas where its deep but not the deepest around.
  • They can live in fresh water, but cannot sustain themselves there, so they prefer to live in salt waters.
  • They are not the only apex of oceans, and live among other apexes.
  • They are not scavengers, and purely rely on their own hunts.
  • It has pretty average intelligence, described as lizard-like intelligence.
  • Its hunting style is fairly straightforward with no strategy involved. If it sees a target, it will pursue immediately and directly. They can hold onto their prey, but usually rely on just using their teeth to rip and tear creatures to bleed them out, but are also fully capable of throwing around targets, like a death roll.
  • They are capable of jumping high from water, which can enable them to catch smaller fliers among the fliers they sometimes eat. They typically consume mid-sized less-armored fliers, such as Colval, Sochuri, and Vaumora, as well as mid-sized "meaty" creatures in general.
  • In fights Syroudons know they can't win, they'll back down only if already losing and in dire circumstances.
  • Syroudon mostly live solitary lives, and are forced to become independent early on. They will choose to spend most of their time idly swimming about and relaxing in their environment for their own entertainment.
  • Syroudons are not territorial, and usually do not commit to one area and protect it.
  • They are decent parents, but only accompany young for a brief period of their lives. Females are primarily the ones who parent their young. Young themselves, even in earlier stages, are not entirely dependent on their parents for the short duration they're together in growth.
  • When it comes to choosing partners, Syroudon are not picky whatsoever, especially since they will not spend much time together for the brief period spent raising young.
  • Syroudon sees Kohikii as the most problematic foe as an aquatic creature.
  • They are not the most playful creatures, and at most may nibble one another.
  • In a scenario that may attempt it, Syroudons are not capable of being tamed.

Lore (non-canon)

  • They are capable of jumping anywhere from 25 to 40 feet high from water, which can enable them to catch smaller fliers among the fliers they sometimes eat.
  • Their teeth can fall out and re-grow, but takes significantly longer compared to modern sharks. They also have a tongue.

Trivia

  • Concept by Stood_04. The Syroudon was inspired by the Spinosaurus.
  • Modeled by NauticaElurra.
  • It is the first fully-aquatic Tier 5 creature, with Kion previously planned to be the second; it's also the first fully-aquatic limited creature.
  • The Syroudon and the Gyroudus both have very similar middle-name components, both being "-yroud-".
  • Syroudon uses a lower-pitched version of the calls of the Therolachus.
  • The Syroudon used to have the description of the Koipise.
  • Originally and due to a bug/mistake, only its right eye had a glow effect, while its left eye did not; this is because the left eye's color is linked to the creature's tertiary coat. Developers announced this was fixed, however it isn't since you can still see Syroudon with this error.
  • It initially released without an oxygen stat.
