Appearance

The Pacedegon is a large, quadrupedal creature largely resembling a Woolly Mammoth and an African Elephant, but with a far longer tail, presenting visible fingers on its toes, with its front legs' ones aiming backwards, and butterfly-shaped earlobes. It is covered in dense fur, especially noticeable on its tail, legs, belly, back, and neck. It has armor plating on its head, chest, and legs, as well as small pieces of armor on its legs and chains on both its main chest plate and its ice-covered tusks. Three long spikes or horns that protrude from its forehead are visible through its head armor plates, adding to its fearsome appearance. It features a little, Howdah-like mountain-like structure on its back that generates smoke, sporadic plant growth, and, according to the color editor, some flower buds. If the ancient ruling theory is right, the creature's earlobes have two tiny leaves sticking out of the base and iron gear on the points that is likely used for handling the creature (with the chains).

**Males**: Males possess a set of spikes on the end of their tail.

Abilities

Unbridled Rage
Unbridled Rage is an active ability that consumes half of a user's stamina upon being activated and grants 10 stacks (30 seconds) of the Unbridled Rage Status. It has a 120 second cooldown.
Block Bleed (0.55)
Bleed Block/Block Bleed is a percentage based passive ability that grants the user resistance to getting bleed status from melee attacks at minimum. If an attacker deals 5 bleed per hit and the receiver has 60% Block Bleed, then the receiver gets only 2 of that 5 bleed. This ability is gained gradually as the creature ages. If a creature's Block Bleed is 100%, then they are immune to Bleed inflicted by melee direct attacks once fully grown. If a creature's Block Bleed is negative, it may indicate an extra vulnerability to the status effect.
Block Frostbite (0.3)
Frostbite Block/Block Frostbite is a passive ability that grants the user resistance to getting frostbite status from melee attacks at the very least, and every other source at most. It is percentage based, e.g. if an attacker deals 5 frostbite per hit and the receiver has 60% block frostbite, then the receiver gets only 2 of that 5 frostbite.
Broodwatcher
Broodwatcher is a passive ability that allows users to assist in the gestation of other players' eggs. It applies one stack of Gestation to nearby creatures, which increases other creatures' egg gestation speed by 2.5%. The total buff any nesting species can receive is 5%, so only two Broodwatchers can be effective at any one time. Additionally, when sitting near a nest, the Broodwatcher gains 5 Defensive, which starts to decrease if they move.
Charge (Throw)
Charge is a passive ability that gradually fills an orange "Charge" bar (unique to creatures with this ability) while running. Once completely full, clicking (Lmb on PC or on Mobile or RT on Xbox) will apply special effects on a creature the user is hitting. If the bar is not full, charge effects may be reduced or non-existent. Current Charge types:
Frostbite Attack (1.5)
Frostbite Attack is an ability that offensively deals frostbite when biting. A negative value means that it heals an amount of such status upon biting.
Frosty
Frosty is a passive ability that causes the user to receive +25% stamina regeneration, +25% health regeneration, -25% thirst depletion, and -25% hunger depletion during Winter and Famine. Additionally, it prevents getting hypothermia from blizzards.
Injury Attack (3)
Injury Attack is an ability that offensively deals injury status when biting. A negative value means that it heals an amount of such status upon biting.

Behavior

  • Pacedegon tend to reside in snowy, tundra-like biomes, though they prefer to mostly live in snow-covered valleys.
  • Pacedegon stomp in the snow (or atop the ground) in order to create a comfortable place to rest.
  • Pacedegons are sometimes playful and like to spray water on other creatures with their trunks.
  • Smaller creatures often wait for Pacedegon to show up while on their way from the oasis to the tundra, and possibly even back, usually ending up hitchhiking on their tusks for an easier and less stressful journey. Pacedegon do this migration back and forth between different seasons. The cycle from the oasis and back to the tundra is called "The Oasis Hitchhike Trail".

Lore (non-canon)

  • It is unknown where the Pacedegon's body armor originally came from, but it is thought to possibly be from an ancient ruling.

Trivia

  • Concept originally by KingJulein24, but was polished by vetris/undeary. Inspired by Gammoth from Monster Hunter, Spartan armor, seasonal landscapes, and large trees.
  • Animated by Mukudori.
  • Pacedegon's in-game description when first released was a placeholder reading: "Elephante the Majestic". This was changed on January 30th, 2023.
