The Xbox YouTube Channel has released an official trailer today celebrating its successful acquisition of Activision Blizzard King. The cinematic trailer highlights some of Activision’s most iconic video game franchises that will join Xbox Game Studios once the $68.7 billion deal finally closes.
The Activision Blizzard acquisition will add huge hits like Call of Duty, World of Warcraft, and Candy Crush to Xbox’s first-party studios. The deal will make Xbox the third-largest gaming company by revenue, behind Tencent and Sony.
Regulators in the U.S., U.K., and EU had opened investigations into potential anti-competitive effects of the acquisition. However, earlier today, the UK’s Competition and Markets Authority approved the deal after Microsoft agreed to hand the rights to distribute Activision’s games on consoles and PCs over the cloud to Ubisoft.
