Appearance

The Arsonos has a barrel-shaped chest, long, thick forelimbs, short hind legs, and a wide tail. Its back is covered in crooked spikes and large layers of scale armor that flow across the body from the tip of the snout to the near end of the tail. There are four claw-like spikes at the end of the tail. The chest has a large pattern on it with parts that glow. Its head is narrow and has small eyes. It has a large jaw with upper and lower jagged canine teeth, an orange tongue, and thin, pointed ears. Two pairs of tendrils resembling bomb fuses hang on the Arsonos's sides, with one pair behind the jaws and one at the base of the tail. From its tail, fire emits with spark-like particles that give it the appearance of a bomb fuse that is about to go off.

**Males**: In contrast to their female counterparts, males have thick armored pieces along their upper brows, lips, and face cheeks. They lack the armor pieces on the sides of their jaws.

Abilities

Grab
Grab is an active ability that allows the user to pick up a lower-tiered creature. Grabbed creatures cannot escape for 5 seconds. After that, the grabbed creature can struggle by pressing any button and will be released from the grab. The user can ungrab at any moment by pressing the same button used to grab. A creature darting from outside water will grab any creature it finds automatically.
Block Bleed (0.4)
Bleed Block/Block Bleed is a percentage based passive ability that grants the user resistance to getting bleed status from melee attacks at minimum. If an attacker deals 5 bleed per hit and the receiver has 60% Block Bleed, then the receiver gets only 2 of that 5 bleed. This ability is gained gradually as the creature ages. If a creature's Block Bleed is 100%, then they are immune to Bleed inflicted by melee direct attacks once fully grown. If a creature's Block Bleed is negative, it may indicate an extra vulnerability to the status effect.
Block Burn (0.35)
Burn Block/Block Burn is a passive ability that grants the user resistance to getting burn status from melee attacks. It is percentage based. For example, if an attacker deals 5 burn per hit and the receiver has 60% block burn, then the receiver gets only 2 of that 5 burn. If a creature's block burn is 100%, then they are immune to Burn inflicted by melee direct attacks once fully grown. This ability is gained gradually as the creature ages. A negative value may indicate that the creature is vulnerable to burn effects.
Burn Attack (1)
Burn Attack is an ability that offensively deals burn when biting. Stacks with itself. A negative value means that it heals an amount of such status upon biting.
Volcanic
Volcanic is a passive ability that grants users the ability to walk in lava without getting hurt or suffering status debuffs. During Famine and Drought, it additionally grants a 50% health regeneration boost and 25% thirst and hunger rate reduction. Volcanic does not protect a creature from Shadow Isle's corrupted lava.

Behavior

  • The Arsonos is the embodiment of rage and fury. They will rampage and kill whatever they can.
  • The Arsonos is smart; however, its rage may overshadow its intellect at times.

Lore (non-canon)

  • Confirmed by JaxonBirb that "theres no such thing as a friendly arson all are horrible".
  • The Arsonos has a rivalry with the Nyctoxon to the point of being its arch-nemesis.
  • Before Arsonos adapted to the way it is, there was nothing special about Arsonos, and there were pre-Arsonos and pre-Nyctoxon.
  • Arsomos actually derive from a species called Nosonos, Nosonos are the base creature and will morph (aka change) depending on the elemental creature they consume. It just happens Nosonos go for Nyctoxon to obtain the fire form (Arsonos). They only reason other forms arent seen as much is because the energy of Nyctoxon gives more benefits then other creatures for Arsonos/Nosonos. The elemental energy they consume converts to another as they aren't able to completely copy but rather just build off the element they've already consumed. Sometimes its to even combat the element their main diet uses (Like Arsonos needing to melt Nyctoxon ice)
  • Other Nosonos info! The tail will open when they gain their element and begin spewing it out constantly (aka why Arsonos has a torch tail) They morph in their lifetime, a baby Arsonos is a Nosonos and once it grows with a proper diet it'll grow into another form or an Arsonos.

Trivia

  • Concept and model by Jaxon, name by @ding_ee, and colors by @flair1516hunted. Arsonos does not have any inspiration in particular. Jaxon states that "if anything the inspiration is just a literal flame geyser or torch."
  • Original design animated by Erythia.
  • Redesign animated by Aphauxin and JaxonBirb.
  • It has been stated by Jaxon that the Arsonos' arch-enemy is the Nyctoxon.
  • Arsonos is often nicknamed "Arson" for short.
  • Arsonos was the second creature to receive the Fire Breath ability, following Sochuri.
  • It is the first secret mission creature to be introduced into the game.
  • The Arsonos' calls were replaced with new calls on May 31st, 2021. [Expand] for Classic Calls.
