Best House in Skyrim

Wondering what’s the best house in Skyrim? Here’s our list of the top houses!

Best House in Skyrim

One of the reasons why Skyrim is so beloved and extremely popular is because the game allows players to live out their fantasies of living in a medieval-era land where they have strong powers. To complete this, the game allows you to choose whatever race you want, pick your build, go on quests, wife a girl of your liking, and have a personal house. Speaking of houses, this guide will show you the best house in Skyrim so that you can live in style without worrying about rent.

Best House in Skyrim

If you are looking to get the perfect home for yourself and your wife, here are the best houses in Skyrim:

  • Lakeview Manor
  • Severin Manor
  • Proudspire Manor
  • Hjerim
  • Arch-Mage’s Quarters

The houses mentioned above are the very best in Skyrim due to a number of reasons. Some of them offer great views while others are located in optimal locations so that traveling is made easier for you. If you want to know which house offers what, check out the next section for the complete details.

Lakeview Manor

Best House in Skyrim

As the name suggests, this wonderful manor sits on top of a beautiful view of the forest, snowy mountains, and the lake. Just look at the image above and tell me that it doesn’t look absolutely stunning. Due to it being in the forest, you can make your very own bee farm or go on frequent hunting trips to satisfy your needs – maybe even take your spouse with you if they are into it.

You can get this house by purchasing the Hearthfire DLC and getting it for 5,000 gold after you are friends with Jarl of Falkreach. The things you need to do to get a peaceful and beautiful view – worth it, in my opinion.

Severin Manor

Best House in Skyrim

With the real estate market at an all-time high, getting the perfect house for yourself and your spouse can be a real struggle. That is why when someone offers you a free house, you immediately take it. Severin Manor is not only one of the best houses that Skyrim has to offer but it is completely free. All you need to own is the Dragonborn DLC, but we don’t talk about that.

This manor has its own alchemy lab and also offers a cooking pot as well. There are tons of other benefits of living here too so make sure that you complete the “Served Cold” quest in the Dragonborn DLC if you wish to unlock this beautiful house.

Proudspire Manor

Best House in Skyrim

Situated in the wonderful city of Solitude, the Proudspire Manor is a sight to behold. While yes, it is the most expensive house that you can get in Skyrim, the price is justified. Since this is a three-story house, you can store tons of stuff here and even make your very own alchemy lab that you’ve dreamed of.

On top of that, you can take a quick stroll to get to the nearby market and buy whatever you need for your adventures. Plus, it has a nice view of the city and a good patio as well which is always a welcomed addition. However, get ready to part with 25,000 gold if you wish to be the proud owner of the Proudspire Manor.

Hjerim

Best House in Skyrim

This beautiful piece of land will cost you a decent sum of gold but it is absolutely worth it. Hjerim has quite a lot of space inside and is well connected to other areas as well. The house comes with its own armory, enchanting tables, and alchemy tables as well. Conveniently located near an alchemist, the Thieves Guild fence, and a smelter, get this house today to get all these benefits and more.

While the house itself costs 12,000 gold, it actually costs you about 21,000 gold if you wish to furnish it. I would suggest that you choose the latter option since it once belonged to a murderous butcher – yikes!

Arch-Mage’s Quarters

Best House in Skyrim

I know, I know that this isn’t the best location for your residence. If you ignore that for a moment, the Arch-Mage’s Quarters in the College of Winterhold has a great interior and is massive. Plus, you can easily and conveniently visit other parts of the College without any issues or wasting your time traveling.

To get this beautiful real estate, you need to earn the title of Arch-Mage by completing the brutal questline of the College of Winterhold. After you successfully complete it, you’ll be awarded this building for you to lounge around in. The reason why I didn’t place this higher is that you are forced to live here alone. Unfortunately, your better half cannot stay here due to restrictions.

Conclusion

Out of all the houses in Skyrim, these are easily the best. So, go on out there and choose yourself a house that you like and start living the dream in the beautiful and vast world of Skyrim.

The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim is available to play on Steam.
