How to Acquire the Shout

First thing’s first, you need to learn the shout of Durnehviir so that you can summon him. For this, you need to progress through the game until you reach the quest “Beyond Death”. Once you reach this quest, continue through it, and Durnehviir will teach you all the three words for the shout.

However, you need to unlock each word of this shout with the dragon souls. If you only unlock the first word, your character will scream that, but nothing will happen. Unless you unlock all three words, you cannot summon Durnehviir; making this a unique shout.

The best part is that, unlike other shouts, you can use this inside various buildings if you have enough space. Since this is technically a summoning, you can use it in areas where your normal shouts don’t work.
