Appearance

The Equenix is an armored quadrupedal creature that looks very similar to its relative, the Boskurro. It has a front-heavy build, featuring heavier forelegs than back legs. The entire length of the creature is covered in segmented armor plating, and a slime-like effect covers most of the body. The Equenix has a slim face with two large horns that curve to form a crescent shape when viewed from the front. A similar crescent shape can be found sprouting from the shoulders of this creature. On its tail, the armor plating stops, growing more like spikes that line the end of its tail. The remaining uncovered tail is also quite spiky, splitting off into 2 tail tips that form another crescent shape.

Throughout the Equenix's design, glowing orbs can be found situated wherever there is a crescent shape (head, shoulders, tail tip). These orbs rotate when the creature is idle.

Abilities

Grab
Grab is an active ability that allows the user to pick up a lower-tiered creature. Grabbed creatures cannot escape for 5 seconds. After that, the grabbed creature can struggle by pressing any button and will be released from the grab. The user can ungrab at any moment by pressing the same button used to grab. A creature darting from outside water will grab any creature it finds automatically.
Healing Hunter (60)
Healing Hunter is a toggleable active ability that allows the user to deal melee hits that replenish the target's HP when hitting. This ability also allows the healer to toggle between melee heal mode and regular attack mode, where the healer's bites deal melee damage instead. It also prevents bleed and poison-booster plushies from giving extra offensive bleed or poison when hitting under healing mode. If a creature with this ability is on healing mode, they are surrounded by a pink hollow sphere with pink cross particles.
Mud Pile
Mud Pile is an active ability that allows the user to place a mud pile that lasts for 60 seconds. Creatures can wallow in the mud to gain healing Muddy status and unscentable status for 90 seconds.
Agile Swimmer
Agile Swimmer is a passive ability that causes the player to receive the following buffs when submerged underwater for more than a second: 100% more stamina regeneration 50% more total stamina 75% more walk speed 75% more sprint speed A % increase in oxygen (oxygen increase percentage is based off the amount of oxygen the creature originally has) Additionally, a glider semi-aquatic (and an aqua-glider) can abuse the extra stamina to increase the number of glide flaps it can perform from the water boosted. Until they touch the ground or stop gliding, the boosted stamina amount will remain.
Block Bleed (0.75)
Bleed Block/Block Bleed is a percentage based passive ability that grants the user resistance to getting bleed status from melee attacks at minimum. If an attacker deals 5 bleed per hit and the receiver has 60% Block Bleed, then the receiver gets only 2 of that 5 bleed. This ability is gained gradually as the creature ages. If a creature's Block Bleed is 100%, then they are immune to Bleed inflicted by melee direct attacks once fully grown. If a creature's Block Bleed is negative, it may indicate an extra vulnerability to the status effect.
Broodwatcher
Broodwatcher is a passive ability that allows users to assist in the gestation of other players' eggs. It applies one stack of Gestation to nearby creatures, which increases other creatures' egg gestation speed by 2.5%. The total buff any nesting species can receive is 5%, so only two Broodwatchers can be effective at any one time. Additionally, when sitting near a nest, the Broodwatcher gains 5 Defensive, which starts to decrease if they move.
Injury Attack (-2)
Injury Attack is an ability that offensively deals injury status when biting. A negative value means that it heals an amount of such status upon biting.

Trivia

  • Concept by Xhosa_Onkai on the Creatures of Sonaria discord. Inspired by the moon and stars.
  • The original Equenix design came long before Boskurro, so Xhosa decided that Boskurro are subspecies of Equenix, adapting to live in forests rather than bodies of water.
  • The Equenix has blue blood, however when young, the blood is a greyish shade more than as an adult. Due to this, when killed, the Equenix drops a blue carcass in Legacy. This is an actual color in some Earth creatures, from those that use hemocyanin, a blue oxygen carrier that replaces hemoglobin in some invertebrate's blood.
