Appearance

Parux is a lithe, quadrupedal, feline-like creature whose neck, torso, and base of its tail is covered in thick, wispy fur. These parts of its body also feature narrow, vent-like slits (four in each region), and the fur on the remainder of its body is shorter or only appears in sparse tufts on its limbs and tail. Parux's four eyes appear as thin slits, and short, pointed horns protrude from above them on both sides. All of its limbs, which are proportionally long and thin, end in four-toed paws and massive claws. Its muzzle lacks a discrete stop, and two sharp tooth-like protrusions jut from both its upper and lower jaw ("staple remover shape"). It has two large ears of moderate length, which end in short tufts.

Its body features a sparse spot patterning throughout. By default, Parux's body is brown and white, contrasted by bright yellow, orange, and pink coloration reminiscent of a sunset. Its mouth is also black.

**Males**: Males have a tuft of purple-pink fur on their chest.

Abilities

Burrower (3)
Burrower is an active ability that allows the user to place up to 4 (or a specific creature limit) burrows anywhere on the map and use burrows created by other players. If a user places more entrances than the maximum allowed, the oldest burrow and exit will be replaced. A user cannot place a burrow entrance inside its own burrow or inside someone else's burrow. There is a 3 second cooldown between entering and exiting burrows, excluding entering a burrow after its initial placement.
Invisibility
Invisibility is an active ability that makes the user invisible to other players when toggled. Invisibility allows the user to walk and swim cloaked as long as they don't bite, use any active ability, sprint, ambush, or jump/fly/glide. While active it does not hide the creature from being spotted by scent. Additionally, invisibility has a 30 second cooldown after being activated; however, deactivating the ability does not modify the cooldown.
Bleed Attack (2)
Bleed Attack is a passive ability, where the user inflicts a specific amount of bleed status on a creature with every bite, excluding with breath/ranged abilities or reflecting abilities. A negative value means that it heals an amount of such status upon biting.
Block Bleed (0.2)
Bleed Block/Block Bleed is a percentage based passive ability that grants the user resistance to getting bleed status from melee attacks at minimum. If an attacker deals 5 bleed per hit and the receiver has 60% Block Bleed, then the receiver gets only 2 of that 5 bleed. This ability is gained gradually as the creature ages. If a creature's Block Bleed is 100%, then they are immune to Bleed inflicted by melee direct attacks once fully grown. If a creature's Block Bleed is negative, it may indicate an extra vulnerability to the status effect.
Burn Attack (1)
Burn Attack is an ability that offensively deals burn when biting. Stacks with itself. A negative value means that it heals an amount of such status upon biting.

Behavior

  • Parux spend most of their time sleeping and are great at conserving energy, hunting and eating very infrequently. They're very picky eaters when they do eat, they only target fast prey that they can chase, like Khiku.
  • Parux are solitary creatures, but can form lifelong bonds with other Parux, like a friendship that never dies.
  • Parux actually don't make any noise and don't have vocal cords, they instead have developed intricate bioluminescent markings to communicate; any sound they do make is similar to crocodile/alligator jaw popping.

Trivia

  • Concept by heyitsXhosa in the Creatures of Sonaria Discord. Inspired by cheetahs, shooting stars, sunsets, and vanilla and chocolate ice cream.
  • On release, Parux did not have a working Glimmer. This has since been corrected.
