Abilities
Behavior
- Rorolos are small, but observant creatures that tend to rely on larger herbivorous creatures for protection.
- They have great nightvision and use the light from their lanterns to illuminate dark spaces.
- If a Rorolo senses a threat, they can chirp like a cricket or buzz to alert their herd.
- Due to their relatively weak attack and small size, they prefer to flee from predators if they are alone.
- While they can headbutt small carnivores, they can also produce a bright flash to confuse large predators as they run away.
- Rorolos can often be seen communicating or bonding with other small herbivore/photovore creatures, such as Minawii and Eulopii.
- They are most active at night and have a symbiotic relationship with fireflies that live in their lantern-like shells. They produce a sweet nectar that attracts fireflies which feed on the nectar, meanwhile the fireflies provide them with a light source which is limited to their base body.
- They have a friendly temperament and are usually not aggressive.
- They host a green vine-like structure which aids in photosynthesis.
- Baby Rorolos develop their lantern-like shell as they grow, and are vulnerable when young.
Trivia
- Concept by Shugalio_333, HappyPoltergeist, & CatasticalCalamity.
- Noted by Inonedn to be the first creature with multiple entities, those being the fireflies floating around it. Clarification: Rorolo was rigged in a way that allowed the fireflies to be one with the main model, unlike the previous Ani model, which has its orbs completely separate and needing its own spawn code. (Confirmed in the CoS Discord Lobby and explained further in a Dev Stream by Xan).
- In the appearance editor, Rorolo's neck is upside-down. This is easily noticeable when switching T-pose on or off.
- The Rorolo is one of the first two ever released Summer event creatures, the other being Hisolidium.
- The fireflies that accompany Rorolo mimic its actions. For example, when it's laying/sleeping, the fireflies will hide inside its bulb, or when it runs they will rest on the bulb.
- For a small time when Rorolo first released, it could be obtained in the Photovore Explorer Gacha before it got restricted to the event missions, along with Hisolidium.
