Where the numbers come from
The odds are the game's own egg function run on each egg's weights at luck 1x, 2x and 4x, the three values your boosts can add up to. The chance of at least one in a batch is 1 minus the chance of missing on every egg, so it climbs fast at first and slowly after: 10 eggs at a 10% chance is 65%, not 100%.
Shiny and trait rolls are separate from the animal roll, so a shiny Chupacabra is 0.8% times 1%. The full drop tables, with where each egg comes from, are on the eggs page.
Questions
How many eggs does it take to hatch a rare animal?
Divide 1 by its chance for the average. Chupacabra is 0.8% of a Void Egg, about 1 in 125, but averages hide streaks: you need 287 Void Eggs for a 90% chance of at least one. The calculator works this out for any egg, animal and egg count.
What does 2x luck do in Egg Tower Defense?
It doubles the share of the rarest animals in the egg, rarity by rarity from the top, and takes what it adds from the most common ones. 2x comes from the 2x Luck pass or a Luck Boost; both together give 4x. Luck does nothing for Robux eggs.
What are the odds of hatching a shiny?
1% a hatch from any egg. The Shiny Hunter pass doubles it to 2%, and a Shiny Boost doubles it again, to 4% with both. A shiny does 10% more damage and sells for twice as much.
How long does an egg take to hatch?
Each egg has a base time that scales with its size cubed, and every egg rolls a size: 60% land between 1x and 1.25x, and a 2x egg takes eight times the base. The calculator shows the average over that roll.
