How to Find the End City in Minecraft

Have you heard about the End Cities in Minecraft from your friends but you can never find one yourself? Well, worry not because you’re not the only one that is looking for the End City. We have gone ahead and discussed how to find the End City in Minecraft so that you can finally uncover these amazing buildings and scavenge the treasure found in them.

While the End Cities have been in the game for quite some time now, newer players are still not aware of how to reach these structures and what to do once they actually get there.

End Cities can only be accessed after defeating the Ender Dragon and using the portal that opens up somewhere around them. They contain several treasure rooms that contain tons of valuable and rare resources that you can use to help you on your adventure.

Where Are End Cities Located?

Once you have gone ahead and defeated the deadly Ender Dragon, you can go through the flying portal that will appear somewhere around you at the End’s edge. However, if you are a new player, you might not be aware that the Ender Dragon is the final boss of Minecraft; as such, it is extremely difficult to fight. You need to prepare well ahead of time and make sure that you are ready to take on this challenge.

After successfully defeating the dragon and finding the portal, you’ll notice that you cannot walk through it. Worry not because there is another way which you can use the portal to teleport to the End City. Make sure that you have an Ender Pearl handy because you’ll need it. Equip the Ender Pearl and use your right-click to throw the pearl into the portal.

If done correctly, you’ll find yourself in a new area of the End that is made up of tons of small islands. The overall area of this map is extremely large and can feel quite barren and isolated considering it is a part of the End. One tip that we recommend is to increase your render distance so that you can see further away and find exactly what you are looking for.

Also, if you find yourself spawning on a small island, you might have to build your way to the other islands or you’ll fall to your death. Keep in mind that you’ll have to be extremely patient – or lucky – to find the End City since this area is huge (and I mean HUGE). With the increased render distance, you’ll spot the city easily but you’ll still have to do a lot of exploring.

Since some of the structures are separated by more than a thousand blocks in between, you might miss some of the buildings but don’t give up. On top of that, the procedurally generated nature of these buildings and the entire area adds to the frustration a lot.

Reward For Finding the End City

Once you eventually find the End City and make your way into it, you’ll find large structures which you can access. There are various treasure rooms in each building so make sure that you explore them all. You can find rewards such as:

  • Iron Weapons and Armor
  • Gold Weapons and Armor
  • Emerald Weapons and Armor
  • Diamond Weapons and Armor

Keep in mind that these items are all enchanted with some of the best enchantments in the game. Most of them are actually overpowered so make sure that you don’t miss anything in these treasure chests.

However, many players will feel underwhelmed by this loot since you already will have a lot of rare and strong loot by this point in the game. Still, it is always nice and satisfying to have rare loot from these buildings after defeating the Ender Dragon.
