Having some trouble dealing with spiders in that one cave that has all the diamonds? No worries, Minecraft has a plethora of unique enchantments with each having its own discernible distinction from the other.
One such unique enchantment – that is often kept under the dark, is Bane Of Arthropods.
What is Bane of Arthropods In Minecraft?
Bane of Arthropods is a unique PvE-oriented enchantment that increases the damage inflicted to bees, silverfish, cave spiders, spiders, and endermites (arthropods). It also deals a Slowness IV debuff with a varying duration per level.
What Does Bane of Arthropods Do?
Bane of Arthropods only affects mobs that belong to the arthropod family, these are:
- Spiders
- Cave Spiders
- Endermites
- Silverfish
- Bees
The enchantment itself can be applied to swords and axes of any material. Here’s a quick technical explanation of what you can expect from the enchantment depending on its level:
Extra Damage
As mentioned prior, you will deal extra damage to arthropods with this particular enchantment. How much extra damage? For each level, you’ll deal 1.25 hearts worth of extra damage.
So, in total, at its maximum level (Bane of Arthropods V) – your weapon will deal 6.25 hearts worth of extra damage.
Slowness
Besides just dealing extra damage, the enchantment has an extra trick up its sleeve. From the base level, each hit will deal a Slowness IV damage to an arthropod as well. However, its duration varies for each level.
At level 1, the debuff will last for a randomized duration between 1-1.5 seconds. As you level up, the maximum and minimum duration will go up by 0.5. So, at its maximum level (Bane of Arthropods V), you can deal a maximum slow of 3.5 seconds!
How To Get Bane Of Arthropods Enchantment In Minecraft?
There is no way to guarantee you get Bane Of Arthropods when enchanting your weapon in the game. However, you can always enchant books and keep testing your luck. Once you do get the enchantment, you can attach it to your weapon with an anvil.
However, you can always hover over an enchantment to get an idea of what you may end up getting. Do note though, that at higher levels (30), you will gain multiple enchantments and there’s a chance that one of them might just be Bane of Arthropods.
