WoTLK Classic Blacksmithing Leveling Guide 1-450 for Wrath Classic

This is our WoTLK Classic Blacksmithing Leveling Guide 1-450. Master the art of the blacksmith and become a grand master in Wrath Classic!

WoTLK Classic Blacksmithing Leveling Guide 1-450

Blacksmithing is a very important and profitable profession in Wrath of the Lich King Classic. Aside from the initial epics which will be valuable on release, there are also many different BoE recipes drops from both Ulduar and Trial of the Crusader.

Blacksmiths can also craft one of the best new additions to WoTLK – The Eternal Belt Buckle! Every player will need these throughout the entire expansion.

As always, Blacksmithing is best paired with Mining so that you can farm your own ores.

Without further ado, here is our complete WoTLK Classic Blacksmithing Leveling Guide for levels 1-450

Materials Required for 1-450

This is an approximate list of the mats required to level blacksmithing from 1 to 450 in WoTLK Classic. Keep in mind that the final five points aren’t included here but will be listed at the bottom of the page. Spoiler: they’re expensive!

Azeroth – Classic (1-300)

Outland – Burning Crusade (300-375)

Northrend – Wrath of the Lich King (375-450)

You’ll also likely need a bit more expensive mats for the final 5 points.

WoTLK Classic Blacksmithing Leveling Guide 1-450

Save the Heavy Grinding Stones. If you can buy Heavy Stone for cheap, then just spam this to 150.

150 – 155

Once you reach level 200 you can choose to specialize in either Weaponsmithing or Armorsmithing. Weaponsmiths then can specialize in Axesmithing, Swordsmithing, or Hammersmithing.

Most items crafted by these specialties are Bind on Pickup, so you’ll have to decide whether you want to have weapons or armor.

Save these for later.

210 – 225

15 x Heavy Mithril Gauntlet – 90 Mithril Bar, 60 Mageweave Cloth

This can be bought from:

Limited supply, and the respawn is random. Either check the auction house or make Mithril Scale Pants if you can’t be bothered to camp it.

235 – 250

15 x Mithril Coif – 150 Mithril Bar, 90 Mageweave Cloth

You can also check the auction house for Plans: Mithril Spurs for a better way to 255. Don’t spend too much on it though, it’s not that important.

250 – 260

20 x Dense Sharpening Stone – 20 Dense Stone

We’re not sure if it’s this way in classic, but in the original WoTLK these next few Thorium recipes can’t be learned from the Blacksmithing trainer in Dalaran.

260 – 275

15 x Thorium Bracers – 120 Thorium Bar

275 – 280

5 x Arcanite Rod – 15 Arcanite Bars, 5 Dense Grinding Stones

This can be expensive, but you can sell them at the auction house to get some of your gold back.

If you can’t be bothered with that, or don’t really care about the gold then just make 5 x Imperial Plate Bracers (see below).

280 – 290

10 x Imperial Plate Bracers

This recipe can be obtained from the quest Imperial Plate Bracer. It requires 10 Thorium Bars to complete.

290 – 300

You can choose either of these:

The only difference is the Rugged Leather or Star Rubies.

Master Blacksmithing (300 – 350)

Go to Outland or Northrend and learn Master Blacksmithing.

5 x Fel Iron Plate Boots – 30 Fel Iron Bar

  • Silvermoon City – Eriden (Blacksmithing Supplies)
  • Shattrath City – Aaron Hollman (Blacksmithing Supplies)

340 – 350

35 x Lesser Ward of Shielding – 35 Adamantite Bar

This requires Plans: Lesser Ward of Shielding

13 x Eternal Belt Buckle – 52 Saronite Bar, 13 Eternal Earth, 13 Eternal Shadow, 13 Eternal Water

These can be sold at the auction house, and they sell very well. You’ll make most of your gold back.

425 – 430

7 x Titanium Weapon Chain – 14 Saronite Bar, 7 Titanium Bar

Sell them at the auction house.

430 – 435

5 x Savage Saronite Hauberk – 70 Saronite Bar, 5 Eternal Earth

435 – 445

15 x Daunting Legplates – 210 Saronite Bar, 15 Eternal Earth

445 – 450

As is usually the case, the last few points are a little painful. You can just keep making Daunting Legplates if you want, but you’ll have to battle with RNG as it turns green.

The alternative method is to craft epic items. There are two ways you can go about this:

  • Sell your blacksmithing services to trade chat and craft epic gear for other players.
  • Craft them yourself and sell them for profit.

Epic items will require you to have Frozen Orb, which can be farmed from heroic dungeon bosses, or bought with emblems.

The cheapest epics to craft are either the boots or shield:

The mats are: 4x Saronite Bar, 3x Titansteel Bar, 1x Frozen Orb

And that was our complete WoTLK Classic Blacksmithing leveling guide. Congratulations on hitting 450!
