Elden Ring Soft Caps

Here’s our complete Elden Ring soft caps guide. Learn about what the soft cap is in Elden Ring and what you should do once you hit it.

Elden Ring Soft Caps

FromSoftware games tend to have various soft caps that stop the player from putting points into one stat excessively and becoming too strong. If you keep leveling your strength stat, you’ll hit the soft cap after a while and your stats won’t increase as much as they normally do. The same can be said about the latest release, Elden Ring. That is why this guide will explain the Elden Ring softcap so that you are familiar with it.

Elden Ring Soft Caps

Elden RIng is much more forgiving when it comes to soft caps. Here is a list of when stats start becoming soft-capped:

  • Vigor: Level 40, Level 60, Level 90
  • Mind: Level 20, Level 50, Level 55, Level 60
  • Endurance: Level 12, Level 18, Level 32, Level 50
  • Strength: Level 20, Level 55, Level 80
  • Dexterity: Level 20, Level 55, Level 80
  • Intelligence: Level 20, Level 55, Level 80
  • Faith: Level 20, Level 55, Level 80
  • Arcane: Level 20, Level 55, Level 80

If you are curious to know what exactly the soft cap does and what you should do once you hit it, continue reading to find out. Without further ado, let’s take a look at the Elden Ring soft cap guide.

What is a Soft Cap in Elden Ring?

Elden Ring Soft Caps

Before we talk about each of the stats, let’s find out what a soft cap is and what it does exactly. After players hit a soft cap, they will not receive the attributes that they did previously by upgrading their stats. If you were getting +10 attributes, now, you’ll get around 5 or 6 depending on which soft cap you hit.

All FromSoftware games have this mechanic but Elden Ring gives a bit of leeway to the players. This allows you to complete your builds at a higher level and have stronger stats than previous Souls games.

However, once you reach level 99, you will hit a hard cap. This is where you will not gain any benefits even if you upgrade your stats. This is done to prevent players from spamming points into one stat and becoming too strong for the game to handle.

Vigor

Elden Ring Soft Caps

Leveling the Vigor stat will allow you to increase your HP. This, in turn, allows you to take more damage without dying. If you want to play aggressively, leveling the Vigor stat will greatly help you. With that said, here are the soft caps for it:

  • Level 40 – Soft Cap
  • Level 60 – Soft Cap
  • Level 90 – Soft Cap (You’ll gain 4 or 5 points of HP per level after this)
  • Level 99 – Hard Cap

Mind

The Mind stat will increase your mana pool, allowing you to cast more spells and use more magic. If you are a magic-user, leveling this stat is a must. Here are the soft caps for it:

  • Level 20 – Soft Cap
  • Level 50 – Soft Cap
  • Level 55 – Soft Cap
  • Level 60 – Soft Cap (After level 60, you will only gain 2 or 3 FP per level)
  • Level 99 – Hard Cap

Endurance

Elden Ring Soft Caps

The Endurance stat will help you increase your stamina. Not only that, but it also assists you in increasing your equipment load so that you do not become over-encumbered after carrying a few items. Here are the soft and hard caps for Endurance:

  • Level 12 – Soft Cap
  • Level 18 – Soft Cap
  • Level 32 – Soft Cap
  • Level 50 – Soft Cap ( You’ll get 1 point of stamina for every three levels)
  • Level 99 – Hard Cap

Strength

Elden Ring Soft Caps

Strength will allow you to wield colossal and large weapons that deal a lot of damage. It also increases your overall damage, allowing you to take out enemies quickly and easily. Here are the caps for it:

  • Level 20 – Soft Cap
  • Level 55 – Soft Cap
  • Level 80 – Soft Cap
  • Level 99 – Hard Cap

Dexterity

Elden Ring Soft Caps

This stat is similar to strength, and it allows you to equip Dex-based weapons that are usually swift and deal a good amount of damage. Plus, it also increases your damage as well. Here are the soft caps for this stat:

  • Level 20 – Soft Cap
  • Level 55 – Soft Cap
  • Level 80 – Soft Cap
  • Level 99 – Hard Cap

Intelligence

Elden Ring Soft Caps

Intelligence is your go-to stat if you want to excel in using sorceries and other magic weapons. It will also increase your resistance to various magic attacks as well. Here are all the caps for this stat:

  • Level 20 – Soft Cap
  • Level 55 – Soft Cap
  • Level 80 – Soft Cap
  • Level 99 – Hard Cap

Faith

Elden Ring Soft Caps

Like Dexterity, Faith is the second stat you can use to increase your magic prowess. There are tons of Faith-based weapons in Elden Ring that require a certain amount of points into the Faith stat so you can use them effectively. Much like Dexterity, the Faith stat soft caps at the following levels:

  • Level 20 – Soft Cap
  • Level 55 – Soft Cap
  • Level 80 – Soft Cap
  • Level 99 – Hard Cap

Arcane

Elden Ring Soft Caps

Arcane is the luck stat that was found in previous Souls games. Leveling it up will allow you to discover more items easily. Plus, you’ll get more Runes as well after defeating various enemies. Since this is a new stat – and a pretty unique one – we do not have the exact stat loss that happens after you hit a soft cap. However, here are all the levels where you will hit a soft cap and a hard cap when leveling this stat:

  • Level 20 – Soft Cap
  • Level 55 – Soft Cap
  • Level 80 – Soft Cap
  • Level 99 – Hard Cap
