Elden Ring Soft Caps (Patch 1.08)

Here’s our complete Elden Ring soft caps guide. Learn about what the soft cap is in Elden Ring and what you should do once you hit it.

Elden Ring Soft Caps

FromSoftware games tend to have various soft caps that stop the player from putting points into one stat excessively and becoming too strong. If you keep leveling your strength stat, you’ll hit the soft cap after a while and your stats won’t increase as much as they normally do. The same can be said about the latest release, Elden Ring. That is why this guide will explain the exact Elden Ring soft caps so that you are familiar with them.

If you are curious to know what exactly the soft cap does and what you should do once you hit it, continue reading to find out. Without further ado, let’s take a look at the Elden Ring soft caps guide.

What is a Soft Cap in Elden Ring?

Elden Ring Soft Caps

Before we talk about each of the stats, let’s find out what Elden Ring soft caps are and what it does exactly. After players hit a soft cap, they will not receive the attributes that they did previously by upgrading their stats. If you were getting +10 attributes, now, you’ll get around 5 or 6 depending on which soft cap you hit.

All FromSoftware games have this mechanic but Elden Ring gives a bit of leeway to the players. This allows you to complete your builds at a higher level and have stronger stats than previous Souls games.

However, once you reach level 99, you will hit a hard cap. This is where you will not gain any benefits even if you upgrade your stats. This is done to prevent players from spamming points into one stat and becoming too strong for the game to handle.

Elden Ring Vigor Soft Cap

Leveling the Vigor stat will allow you to increase your HP. This, in turn, allows you to take more damage without dying. If you want to play aggressively, leveling the Vigor stat will greatly help you. With that said, here are the soft caps for it:

  • Level 40 – First Cap
  • Level 60 – Second Cap
  • Level 90 – Third Cap (You’ll gain 4 or 5 points of HP per level after this)
