Sorcery is extremely powerful in the Elden Ring. Here’s our Elden Ring: Carian Glintblade Vs Meteorite Staff & which is better guide.
One of the many reasons for Elden Ring’s enormous success is the accessibility and choices it provides compared to previous titles. Although it has the same From Soft formula but altering it ever so slightly has brought massive changes. Sorcery and Incantations have made a comeback in the Elden Ring, and you will have an abundance of different spells to choose from.
Even in the same category of weapons you can select different ones that have the same functionality but different results. In the Elden Ring you are only as good as your weapons and for a spellcaster having a better staff can make a huge difference. Some staff have passive skills that make some sorceries more potent.
Both Carian Glintblade and Meteorite are great staves. However, Carian Glintblade is better than Meteorite Staff. As Meteorite Staff can’t be upgraded, its damage in the late game will drop off, but it is very viable in early game.
Carian Glintblade Staff Vs Meteorite Staff
Both staffs have different use cases in early to mid-game as both staffs are easily bested by the ones you will obtain in the late game.
Carian Glintblade Staff
Carian Glintblade Staff is a Glintstone Staff and it primarily scales with Intelligence. You can obtain Carian Glintbalde Staff by traveling to the Highway Lookout Tower in eastern Liurnia region. Carefully make your way to the top of the tower and retrieve the Carian Glintblade Staff from the corpse atop the Tower.
To effectively cast with Carain Glintblade Staff, you need 6 Strength, 22 Intelligence, and 12 Dexterity. As it is a Glintstone Staff it provides 15% boosts to Carian Phalanx, Magic Glintblade, Carian Retaliation, Greatblade Phalanx and Glintblade Phalanx sorceries. Additionally, you can apply an Ash of War to the staff.
One of the main advantages of Carian Glintblade has over Meteorite Staff is that it can be upgraded using smithing stone. When fully upgraded its stats will increase from having 22 in Physical damage, 100 in Critical damage and 131 in Sorcery damage to 38, 100, and 166-337 respectively.
The range of sorcery damage is determined by your stat levels for Strength, Intelligence, and Dexterity. The greater your stats, the greater your sorcery damage will be.
Meteorite Staff also scales primarily and has S scaling in Intelligence, the highest scaling a weapon can have in Elden Ring. You need to have 18 Int and 6 Str to equip Meteorite Staff.
You can obtain this staff by traveling to the southwestern building of the Street of Sages Ruins, Aeonia Swamp in Caelid. Meteorite Staff is being protected by several flowers that cause Scarlet Rot. The staff is on a corpse hanging from a ledge in a small room with poison flowers and a rune.
Meteorite Staff boosts gravity-type sorceries by 30%. It will increase the damage of Rock Sling, Collapsing Stars, Meteorite, Gravity Well and Meteorite of Astel as these are gravitational sorceries. Meteorite Staff has 39 in Physical damage, 100 in Critical damage and 262 in Sorcery damage.
Which Staff Is Better Carian Glintblade or Meteorite Staff?
We can see from the base stats of both staff that Meteorite Staff has a clear advantage over Carian Glintblade in early game. The Meteorite staff cannot be upgraded by any means, so it will begin to drop off and be very weak around level 50-60. If you do not plan on upgrading your staff in the early game, then Meteorite Staff is better.
But if we compare an upgraded Carian Glintblade with the Meteorite Staff, the Carian Staff is a far better choice. Carian Glintblade has comparable stats to Meteorite Staff when it is upgraded at level +12 or +13. But once you upgrade it further Carian Glintblade Staff is better.
