Axes are tools that can be used for much more than just cutting down trees. Axe enchantments allow you to do that. Here are our best axe enchantments in Minecraft.
The axe has established itself as the staple of Minecraft over the years. In the start, the axe was considered a tool for gathering resources and cutting down trees. But, now, many players also use an axe as a weapon. Regardless of what use you put it to, axe enchantments are a must for best results.
Some of the enchantments we will talk about are used for other weapons and tools but are also incredibly effective when applied to an axe. While the axe is not supposed to be a tool for combat, some enchantments enhance the combat ability of an axe. So, without further adieu, here are the best Axe enchantments in Minecraft.
Best Axe enchantments in Minecraft
The best axe enchantments in Minecraft are:
- 1. Smite
- 2. Efficiency
- 3. Mending
- 4. Unbreaking
- 5. Sharpness
The best thing about the axe is that it has enchantments for both combat and gathering resources. It’s just up to the player how they use it.
Do you have a fear of the undead? If yes, then Smite is a must-have for you. You can easily find undead mobs roaming the lands of Minecraft, and Smite is your best friend against them. Smite increases the amount of damage dealt to the undead. It has five upgrade levels, and each level increases the damage by 2.5 hearts.
As I said before, Axes are more than just harvesting tools now, and Smite is proof of that. If you are using your axe as a melee weapon against the undead, then Smite becomes an absolute necessity.
Axes were developed to be used for harvesting and cutting down trees. Any enchantment that enhances those capabilities should be prioritized. Efficiency is that enchantment, and it allows you to cut down trees much faster than normal. It also has a total of five upgrade levels, and each level helps you tear down blocks more quickly.
The only caveat is that when applied to an Axe, efficiency can cause the weapon to break down faster because the axe works at a higher speed. So, combining the efficiency enchantment with a repairing enchantment is recommended for best results.
Here is the repairing enchantment I was talking about above. Mending is an enchantment to make your axe unbreakable, at least as long as you have XP. Applying mending to your axe will automatically repair it over time regardless of what you are using it for. But repairing costs XP, and you must ensure you have enough for Mending to work.
If you are fighting a mob, you will keep getting XP as you continue taking down enemies. But you might need to keep your XP in check if you are not mining or killing mobs. Maybe build an XP farm to compliment this enchantment.
Unbreaking does as the name suggests. It increases the durability of your axe and ensures that it stays with you for longer. Sure, it might not be a killing enchantment or a harvesting one, but it should be an essential part of your armory. Whatever you are using your axe for, with unbreaking, you can use it for a lot longer.
Unbreaking is also essential if you are using a diamond axe. Diamonds are not easy to find in Minecraft, and if you have a Diamond axe, you wouldn’t want to lose it anytime soon. That makes unbreaking even more important and necessary..
While axes are still not taken seriously as tools for combat, you can turn your axe into an absolute killing machine with the sharpness enchantment. It increases the damage you are dealing with your axe and allows you to tear down shields faster. Five upgrades are available for Sharpness, and each level increases the damage dealt by 0.5 hearts. Except for Sharpness I, which increases the damage by one whole heart.
Axes can be great tools for combat since they hit a lot faster than most weapons. But, with the sharpness enchantment applied, they will also hit harder than most weapons in the game. Axes might not be your first choice weapons against the mobs, but they are worth considering after applying the sharpness enchantment.
Axe enchantments add a lot more versatility to a tool that was only considered one-dimensional for the longest time. Now you can use your axe for much more than just cutting down trees. Enchantments are an excellent game mechanic, and they make the game a lot more fun to the game.
It makes for a far better playing experience when you know the game appreciates whatever route you want to take with your gameplay methods. Axe enchantments or just enchantments as a whole are symbolic in that point of view.
