V Rising: How to Get a Horse 2024 (April)

This is our complete V Rising: How to Get a Horse guide.

V Rising is a game that takes the concept of Vampires to the extreme end and lets you enjoy experiences that might seem bizarre in nature. While Vampires aren’t specifically known for their horse-riding skills, the possibility is present in V Rising – and it’s hopelessly addicting!

V Rising: How to Get a Horse

In V Rising, a horse can be ridden by holding the F button near any horse. The mini-map is a great identifier for the location of these mounts. Simply venture into the Dunley Farmlands in the Farbane Woods to find what you’re looking for.

Having said that, riding horses is a great way to traverse long distances in the game. This is due to the map expansion that comes with clearing missions.

In this guide, I will show you the method of obtaining a horse as a mount in V rising along with the locations that possess an abundance of them, so let’s dive in and get started.

Horses in V Rising: Popular Locations

V Rising: How to Get a Horse

As of yet, horses aren’t that common – especially in the early levels of the game. Therefore, you will have to make a trip to Farbane Woods. The area is not recommended for any player below level 30, so if you’re anywhere below that, then we would suggest you wait a bit.

Having said that, the horses are usually located in the stables inside the Farbane Woods. However, you might not be able to find any. As you might’ve guessed, this is not due to any errors or bugs, but rather – it’s that the other players on the server have taken all of them.

Needless to say, this area isn’t limited to a single area. Therefore, we recommend you roam around until you find suitable horses to mount. While the trouble might not seem to pay off at the start, it is all very worth it the deeper you progress into the game.

Galloping the roads of your favorite server is a great experience to have in the vast lands of V Rising. In order to do this, simply walk near the horse and press the F key and your Vampire will automatically mount it.

Taking Care of The Horse in V Rising

V Rising: How to Get a Horse

Unlike most games, V Rising requires you to take good care of your horses in order to prevent them from dying. Luckily, horses don’t need much to survive. Simply feed water to the horses on a regular basis and you should be good to go.

Just like the players, the horse also has an inventory that needs to be filled in order to preserve his hydration levels. However, the mount cannot directly drink the water present on the map. Therefore, you need to have water-filled canteens.

How to Get Water Canteens For Horses

The Water Canteens are just a filled version of the waterskins. While you would have to make trips to a water source for the water filling, they cost little to none to produce and can keep your horse up and running for days.

With that being said, you can craft waterskins by using Plant Fiber and Leather. While the latter is obtainable from the tannery, you will need to hack different plants in order to find the Plant Fiber.

Conclusion

All in all, having a horse as a high-level player is a necessity. Therefore, heading to the Farbane Woods should be on your priority list. Since the area is dangerous, it’s better if you have a decent number of levels under your belt before searching through the horse stables.

Not played V Rising yet? It can be found on Steam for a pretty cheap price! Keep in mind that it’s still early access, so it’s not a fully complete game.
