V Rising: Octavian Guide 2024 (April)

This is a complete V Rising: Octavian guide, including his location, and how to defeat the boss.

V Rising is a game that delivers a joyous experience with its epic world-building and hack ‘n’ slash mechanics. While the game features multiple elements of PvE gameplay, the difficulty seemingly tends to grow on you, especially if you’re facing Octavian The Militia Captain.

V Rising: Octavian Guide

Octavian The Militia Captain only has five major attacks that need to be evaded. Amongst them, his ultimate is the deadliest. That being said, there are major time spaces between his attacks, so waiting and countering is your best bet.

Needless to say, being able to dodge all his attacks is a feat to remember in itself. Thus, you should be packing a fair bit of items if you want to one-up this freak of a boss.

In this guide, I will be showing you the method of defeating Octavian The Militia Captain in V Rising. Furthermore, we will also be taking a look at his attack patterns, so let’s jump right in!

V Rising: Octavian Location

You won’t be able to do much if you can’t locate the boss in the first place. Luckily, there aren’t any major prerequisites for summoning Octavian. Therefore, you should be good to go as long as you manage to reach the Bastion of Dunley.

This region is located in the north of Dunley Farmlands, so the traveling distance might be a bit long. Hence, it’s recommended to ride a horse here than using foot travel. Thankfully, you will be level 58 by the time you reach him, so that won’t be your biggest issue.

Battling Octavian: Pre-Fight Preparations

Wait for the world to go dark before duking it out with Octavia The Militia Captian. Consequently, you will have to prepare ferocity and magic damage potion in order to buff up your throughput. As the saying goes, the more, the better.

Moreover, have a bank of healing potions ready at all times during the fight. Despite that boss’s stature, any successful attack is enough to send you to nirvana and beyond. Once you’ve done all the off-battle preparations, it’s time you head to the battlefield.

Octavian: All Possible Attacks

V Rising: Octavian Guide

As you might’ve noticed, the boss only transitions between a total of four major attacks, all of which are listed below:

Horizontal Slash

The first one comes as a blade swing. Since this blade is extremely large, you would need to sidestep it as cleanly as possible. Aside from damage, the blade also stuns in its horizontal trajectory. Therefore, make sure to not get hit by it at all costs.

Quadra Blade

Another attack of his hurls four blades at you that deals a decent amount of damage. However, dodging them isn’t that hard –  so you’re good to go on them. Once the third attack ensues, things begin to get tricky.

The Militia Captain’s Summons

The first summons is a bowman that will constantly shoot arrows at you whenever possible. While its damage isn’t anything to boast about, stacking consistent damage can easily wear anyone out, especially when you’re battling a boss. Therefore, target the summon first.

Enraged Charge

The boss drops all caution and starts charging toward you. In this interval, he will launch a bunch of slashes that will create a constant stream, thereby making him unstoppable. Taking this charge head-on will spell instant death. Therefore, don’t let it hit you no matter what.

Takeaway

In essence, fighting Octavian The Militia Captain is not that hard as long as you can leverage the time between his attacks. Thankfully, his attack patterns aren’t that complex, so you should be able to leave a decent mark as long as you dodge them while keeping your distance.

Not played V Rising yet? It can be found on Steam for a pretty cheap price! Keep in mind that it’s still early access, so it’s not a fully complete game.
